" I'm sorry." Mason said, making us turn to look at him strangely.

The word Sorry and Mason don't get to be mentioned in the same line so what went wrong or what was he sorry about?

Turning to look at Theo, he shrugged his shoulders, like he knew nothing about what was happening with Mason.

But he could not lie to me, I know my mates so well to realise when they are just playing dumb and that's what was happening with Theo.

" I'll make us a cup of coffee," Theo offered and before any of us could answer, he was gone. All more reason for me to confirm that something was happening.

Mason moved from the bed and stood behind the dressing table where I was doing my makeup.

" I know I don't often say sorry even when I wrong you and for that, I apologise." Mason said, throwing me off the hook.

" What has gotten into you? You are acting strange." I commented.

What devil possessed my mate? He's acting out of normal, out of his normal.

" Nothing is wrong with me. I just want to apologise, is that so wrong?" Mason thundered, his voice thick with emotions, showing that he was pissed.

I flinched at his tone of voice.

Now, that's something Mason would do.

Loose his temper and yell at others.

" Sorry,I didn't mean to scare you." Just when I am thinking that he has finally gone to normal, Mason apologises again, shocking me.

" What's wrong with you Mason? You are scaring me, you know? You were just fine a moment ago. Why are you apologising to me now? You did nothing wrong." I breathe out the words.

At this point, I am really confused.

What has gotten into him.

" I did something wrong this morning." Mason said, making me think back to what happened in the morning.

How he was rude and hostile to Justin.

Could that be what Mason is apologising about?

But that's impossible! That's something he would not do for a nobody like Justin because that's what the man is to him, a mere Human. A nobody.

" I should have listened to you and let the boy talk to you without throwing tantrums but Melissa, " Mason paused, moving to stand before me and taking my hands.

" I don't like seeing you interacting with another man. It doesn't matter who that man is, not to mention that he is human. But for your sake,I should have put my hatred aside instead of behaving like an asshole.

Melissa,I really don't want to lose you. That's the reason despite being reluctant, I allowed you to go back to the city to investigate and clear your mind and name.

I don't want us to keep fighting to an extent where we can't stand each other.

I don't want to be separated from you nor do I want to see other men near you.

I know that I should not use my jealousy to excuse my behaviour, that's why I want you to forgive me."

Mason poured his heart out.

His voice was so serious that at some point I had to stop myself from bursting out laughing.

I mean like a serious Mason doing apologies is not something you get to see everyday.

Looking at his loving eyes, I could not help but melt into them.

" I'm sorry too if I have been rebellious. Don't worry, a situation where we can't stand each other will not ever come because I can't bear to lose you guys. You are my family so where else would I go if I leave here?" A smile bloomed on my face as my hands moved to automatically caress his moustache that felt pricklish.

" And now that you have settled everything, it's time for you to tell us why you are here. You are supposed to be at the office, right?" Theo approached us, a tray with our coffees balancing on his hands.

After narrating everything that happened from how Justin alerted me from going to the office following Mark's scandal and how I excused myself from work.

" Won't that man be suspicious of you?" Theo asked with concern but I shook my head.

According to the information I have about Tessa, she is a loner and rarely talks to people at the office.

It would be hard to have her connected with Mark.

" What if that ex- boyfriend of yours rats you out?" Mason asked. Although he tried masking the jealousy in his words, Theo and I still caught a whiff of it.

" I thought someone promised to be good? What's that sour scent I smell here?" I teased.

Mason looked away guiltily while Theo just smiled.

It's indeed hard to change someone.

"Don't worry. Mark can be trusted. He knows that he will need my help getting out unscathed so he won't dare." I replied confidently.

That will be the last thing Mark will do.

Right now, he just has to stick to saying that he wants to carry out a private investigation inorder to uncover the truth. That will be more plausible especially if he says that he was dismissed from the case unjustly.

As long as he doesn't take my name in his mouth, he will be safe; at least for now.

" What's your plan?" Theo asked, making me sigh.

Honestly, I also don't know what to do next.

I could only hope Justin makes a breakthrough and finds something that can lead us to whoever is causing such an uproar in the country.

" For now, I don't have any but before the day breaks, I will figure out a way." I replied.

One thing is for sure though. Since Mark was caught trying to help me,I will never abandon him.

I will do everything in my power to ensure that he does not end up like me; a wanted criminal.

" We are here for you. I believe together, we will find a way through this." Mason said, kissing my lips briefly.
