Allegra was startled awake by a familiar jingle. She blinked her eyes awake blearily only for them to fall upon her sleek phone. She rubbed her eyes open with the heel of her hand as she reached for it, not even bothering to look at the screen too closely as she swiped her hand across it to answer the grating thing.
“Hello?” she answered, clearing her throat only after hearing how croaky her voice sounded to her own ears.
She was met with silence from the other end and was about to check if she was still connected with someone until the voice on the other end came through.
“Why does it sound like you’re just waking up?” demanded her soon-to-be sister-in-law.
The Duchess groaned tiredly. Milena only ever called on her when she had some royal duty to fulfil and she was not in the mood.
