Rejected By One Alpha, Claimed By Another

Chapter Three

"LET GO OF HER!" The voice roared from across the room. The room went silent and everyone began to groan in pain. I felt Quinn's grip on my arm loosen and turned to see him shaking and groaning like he was having a seizure.

He soon let go of my arm and fell to the ground and soon everyone began falling to the ground, everyone except me. They all looked like they were burning from the inside out. Only one thing could be responsible for this, I turned to see Alpha Carter glaring at me. No, not me, he was glaring at Quinn.

"A-a-alph.a" Quinn whispered in a weak voice. He looked like he was going to pass out any second soon. "Bullying a weaker wolf, I'm quite ashamed" Alpha Carter said and took slow strides toward us. He stopped in front of me and scanned me from head to toe like he was looking for something.

"I'll let this slide this time, but the next time I catch you or anyone else bully a weaker wolf, you'll be fast out from the pack immediately" Alpha Carter snapped, "understood?" He asked. Everyone nodded and immediately they were freed from their torture.

A part of me felt relieved that Alpha Carter had stopped the bullying from the pack but another part knew that Helen would not care about the threat. In fact, I was sure she blamed me for Alpha Carter's outburst and would punish me for it later.

"Now, proceed with the engagement" Alpha Carter instructed in a calm voice as if he hadn't just tortured the whole pack a minute ago. As everyone went about their business, I looked at Alpha Carter who was still standing by my side, "T-t-thank yo-ou" I stuttered , he locked eyes with me and muttered some incoherent words before walking away.

I resumed serving the guest while silently watching Nat and Quinn being all lovey dovey with each other. They would share long kisses, wrap their arms around each other or simply call each other sweet names all while I was present.

As I watched them I couldn't help but think that I should be the one with Quinn and not Natalie. As I was serving drinks to some guest, I felt a weird feeling like someone was watching me but when I turned all I saw was Alpha Carter standing at the other side of the food with his eyes glued to the floor. Was he staring at me? I shook off the feeling and continued working, I had a long night ahead of me.

Few hours into the party, just as Alpha Carter was about to leave, a strange woman walked in. She was slim and tall with blonde hair and blue eyes and I quickly guessed her to be the friend Natalie had told me about.

She had barely taken a step in when she paused and began searching the room with her eyes. It fell on Alpha Carter whose eyes were already on her. I squinted my eyes to see clearly and I saw her lips form the word "mate." She was Alpha Carter's mate.

She quickly ran to his side and pulled him into a tight hug like her life depended on it. Immediately the music went off and everyone turned to look at them. "Could it be?" I heard Natalie shriek, "I think she's his mate."

"Finally I found you after searching for so many years" Stephanie said with a bright smile on her face but for some reason Alpha Carter looked rather displeased with her, but I just thought I was seeing things. I mean why would he not like her? She was tall, beautiful and the daughter of an Alpha.

"I can't wait to tell my father, we can start the plans for the coronation and…" "there will be no such plans" Alpha Carter cut in. Everyone looked puzzled, what did he mean? "I Alexander Carter, Alpha of the Gamma pack, rejects you as my mate and the Luna of this pack" he announced.

The room exploded with gasps, everyone including Stephanie was awestruck. He just rejected her? Why would he reject someone so perfect? "B-b-but why?" She stuttered. "There's someone else I have my heart set on," Alpha Carter replied, sending everyone into shock.

"WHO? Who could be better than me?" Steph screamed, Alpha Carter's eyes searched the crowd until they finally landed on who they were looking for and everyone including me turned to see who it was. Surprisingly, when I turned, all I saw was a wall. Wait! Does that mean?

I spun around to see everyone staring at me, including Alpha Carter. When he said he had his heart set on someone, he meant me?

He pushed Steph aside and began approaching me. My heart thumped loudly in my chest as he drew closed and I feared it would jump out. I had mixed feelings, on one hand I was happy that I was being proposed to by the alpha and on the other, I was sad for poor Steph.

He stooped in front of me and stared into my eyes and it hit me, he had been watching me all this while, that was why everywhere I went, he was there? That was why he defended me. "Will you like to be my Luna?" He asked, I opened my mouth to say something but no words came out and soon I saw myself going down and everywhere went blank.

I woke up in a strange room, it looked very expensive, too expensive to be in my home. As I looked around the room, the events from the days hit me and I realized that I was in Alpha Carter's room.

I quickly got out of the bed and tried to sneak out before he would return but the door flew open and he walked in. "Leaving so soon?" He asked and walked towards me with a cup of water in his hands. He handed the cup to me and I muttered a thanks.

"My family must be worried, I should go" I lied, but I was sure he wouldn't believe me. Everyone knew how Helen had been mistreating me. "You can leave after you give me an answer," Alpha Carter replied.

"Answer to what?" I played dumb and took a sip of the water, refreshing!

"Will you be my Luna or not?" He posed the dreaded question again. I took another sip of water, a longer one this time and almost didn't want to take the cup off my lips even when I was done but I knew giving a reply was inevitable. "I-i-i" I stuttered.

"How about I give you twenty four hours to think about it and give me a reply tomorrow" he suggested. "Yes thank you" I accepted. "I'll ask one of my men to take you back home" he said and as if on cue, a guard walked in. "Get her home" Alpha Carter instructed and walked out.

I was taken home by the guard. As I stared at the door I braced myself for Nat's and Helen's tantrums and the moment I stepped in I was greeted by a slap.
