Beverly's first reaction when the phone call began with shrieking insults was to hang up immediately. She thought it was Elroy's girlfriend. The moment she ended the call, regret washed over her. She probably should've explained that it was all a misunderstanding, but Elroy's phone was locked, and there was no way she could call back.
