“Ah ah. Here you are.” One of the soldiers approached me and punched me in the face.
I fell to the ground and lost consciousness. My vision was blurry. That was the last thing I could remember.
I woke up moments later and spotted a gigantic figure standing in front of me.
All I could see was absolute darkness. I was scared that the moon goddess had come to destroy the universe.
“Where am I?” I slowly opened my eyes to find Derek in front of me.
I stood up, trying to escape again. Unfortunately for me, I was unable to make it past the hefty soldiers who surrounded me. I was outnumbered.
I was pushed to the ground. I fell on the legs of Derek as I cried profusely.
“Please, forgive me,” I pleaded as my knees scrubbed the earth's surface.
“Welcome back from the land of the dead.” Derek lifted me and landed a thunderous slap on my chin that pushed me to the ground.
I was helpless, hopeless, and wretched. Running away wasn't an option.
“Bring her to me,” Derek commanded his soldiers.
In the blink of an eye, two hefty soldiers showed up and lifted me.
Like a warlock, Derek marched towards me and grabbed my neck.
He restricted my airflow and nearly choked me to death with his blunt claws.
I prayed for death to come and take me away. It would be better than enduring the suffering from Derek.
There's no way I was going to survive the torture from Derek.
“You w***e! Now tell me, who aided your escape? Start talking before I behead you and feed your remains to the vultures,” he yelled at me.
I managed to rotate my neck around. I found Ana standing next to Amelia. Tiny shivers traveled down my spine.
I felt nothing but resentment towards Amelia. The only thing I could think about was edging forward and stabbing Amelia to death for betraying me.
Ana's eyes were already soaked with tears that were yearning to stream down her face.
I couldn't bring myself to implicate her. It wasn't her fault that I was caught. She did her best to ensure I had a successful escape.
I ruined her efforts by trusting Amelia. Now I'm regretting my actions.
“Don't make me repeat myself. Who f*****g aided your escape?” Derek flared up.
His voice was so ferocious. I could hear the earth crumbling.
I chuckled.
It came from a place of pain.
With confidence, I looked into Derek's eyes.
“I would rather die than tell you. Kill me if you'd like to. I don't give a f**k about you,” I spat in his face.
Everyone screamed in unison. They knew I was about to get slayed like a wolf. No one dares Derek, and he gets away with it.
One of the soldiers pulled out a dagger and grabbed my neck.
He was about to slaughter me when Derek halted him with an upraised arm.
“Don't! I like her guts. Take her to my chamber immediately,” Derek authorized his soldier.
Like a piece of s**t, I was dragged to Derek's chambers, where I was locked up like a prisoner.
I couldn't scream anymore. I lost my strength and vocals.
I was waiting for Derek to show up and finish the dirty work he started on me. He never did.
Suddenly, I heard a voice calling me through the window. It sounded familiar, but I was too weak to guess who that was.
Slowly, I limped towards the window area and found Ana soaked in her tears.
“I'm sorry.” She held my hands to console me.
“I tried all I could to save you from Amelia, but I was scared that she might report me to Logan. I knew she shouldn't be trusted,” Ana explained.
“It's fine. It wasn't your fault.
I'll be fine,” I told Ana.
Deep down, I knew my end was near.
I was trying to act tough, yet I was dying inside.
I heard keys squeaking from outside. Someone was trying to open the door.
“Run!” I alerted Ana.
“Someone's coming.”
“No, I'd rather stay here with you. I was the reason you are in this mess. It's only natural that I share your pain with you,” Anna refused.
She insisted on staying with me until the very end.
“Are you crazy? You'll be killed. It's me he wants, not you,” I screamed at Anna before she reluctantly agreed to run away.
Derek walked inside a few seconds after Ana had escaped.
“Who were you talking to?” He questioned me. I stayed quiet and looked sideways.
I ignored Derek and pretended that his presence never mattered to me.
This got him pissed off. “Have you suddenly gone deaf?” He screamed at me.
I could hear some funny sounds inside my ear. I was scared that my eardrums had been damaged.
“No one. I was talking to myself,” I lied. My lips were shaking. I was hoping that Derek would believe me.
“I see!” He nodded his head and laughed mischievously.
That was the last thing he said before dashing outside at speed as though he were being chased by a wolf.
I was hoping that Ana wouldn't get caught. I can't stand the sight of watching her getting executed like a common thief.
It's been twenty minutes since Alpha Derek went searching for Anna, and he hasn't returned yet.
My blood pressure increased tremendously. I gave up on ever seeing Anna come out of this alive.
Derek is quite an ambitious alpha. He always gets everything he wants. I saw the way he got rid of his half-brother out there just to have me.
If it wasn't for Logan's intervention, Derek would have murdered his half-brother unapologetically in cold blood.
I didn't stop praying for the moon goddess's intervention even though there was a part of me that had lost hope.
Somehow, I was optimistic that Anna wouldn't get caught. She's intelligent and quick. Derek would need more than just intelligence to get her.
If getting punished by Derek would guarantee Anna's escape, I'm ready for it. She's more helpful around the pack than I am.
Just like Alpha Logan said, no one would miss me when I'm gone.
I peeped through the window, hoping I would see Anna and warn her to be careful. Not even Derek or Anna was anywhere to be found.
I heard some footsteps approaching my doorstep. Without checking, I knew it was Derek.
I quickly returned to the bed before he plucked out my eyes in an attempt to escape.
My heart was beating faster. I was scared that he had returned to announce the capture of Anna. The news would shatter my heart into pieces.
Finally, the person showed up and allayed my fears a bit. It wasn't Derek as I had expected.
It was no other person than Amelia, the traitor. I was elated for a bit. I wasn't intimidated by her presence anymore.
“You motherfucking bastard! What the heck are you doing here?” I stood up to go fight Amelia when she pushed me to the ground. I felt like a piece of paper. I had no strength left in me.
“You need to stop hallucinating and wake up from your slumber. What were you thinking? That I'm going to let you escape? You are the greatest fool in the history of mankind if you thought that was ever going to happen. Not under my watch! I'd rather be slayed by a battalion of wolves than watch that happen,” Amelia vowed.
She made a travesty of me with wicked laughter and spat at me to compound my woes.
I was left hopeless on the ground as tiny tears gushed down my eyes. My encounter with Amelia feels like familiarity.
It reminded me of those days when she bullied me in school, and I couldn't do anything to save myself.
When Amelia agreed to let me escape, I thought that was the end of my tribulations. Amelia made me believe in ever regaining my freedom again.
I should have known that she was digging a pit and was waiting for me to fall inside, which I did.
“Why do you keep doing this to me? What do you stand to gain from this? Why do you hate me so much? What did I ever do to you to warrant such hatred?” I wept like a pathetic widow while I was still on the ground.
What's the need of being on my feet when Derek would soon show up and kick my ass again? I accepted my fate.
I had no hope of ever regaining my freedom again. I had my only chance and lost it. I don't see myself having such an opportunity again.
“Why do I hate you so much? Hmm! What a question,” Amelia mimicked me. She was edging closer to me while preparing her fist.
I was terrified. The only thing I could think of was running away. Unfortunately, I don't see that happening.
The pack has been heavily guarded because of me.
Before I could attempt to stand up, Amelia kicked me in the stomach and nearly made me join my late father in the underworld.
“That's to show you how much I hate you. Why can't you just die? I hate to see your shitty face around the pack. You're f*****g disgusting,” she groaned and unleashed her inner beast on me.
