“Detective Scott,” I smile when he sits beside me. “Can I interest you in a beer?”
“No, thank you,” he replies. “The road is long; we need to go.”
“Go?” I frown confused. “I’m not going anywhere.”
“I don’t have time for this s**t,” he groans, shaking his head. “You come with me willingly or I drag you out. Either way, you’re coming. It’s an order.”
“You know what I find peculiar?” I turn to face him. “How you and Mason are such great friends when you haven’t even met.”

“Does Carina know about this?” I gape at him. She was on the run from Mason. Surely, she would have been upset if she knew Scott tattled on her location.
