I made sure to hide everything Kyrie bought me. Folded, tucked away deep in one of the old boxes at the back of my closet, where Saint would never bother looking. If he ever decided to tear through my things for whatever twisted reason his mind came up with, he'd only find dust and old clothes.
I pulled out my phone and dialed Mum. She picked up on the first ring.
"My baby girl!" Her voice lit up, so warm and excited.
"Hey, Mum." I smiled despite myself. "I see you're having a lot of fun."
She giggled, and in the background, I heard Alpha Rollins teasing her about something she was wearing. My chest swelled, my heart softening at how happy they sounded.
She was happy. Safe. Alive. And it gave me oxygen just knowing that. It made me feel alive, and it meant so much to me.
