Heather began to relax back into the seat of the helicopter. The steady vibration, along with her lack of sleep from the night before, started drifting her toward sleep. She hoped Alan was in far livelier condition. They’d been in the air for nearly an hour. There had been no sign of any cetaceans of any kind since they left the false killer whales trailing the tuna boat. There was only bright, glary water in every direction. Since their departure, Heather had no idea of where they were. She didn’t know which direction the boat was, or how far away it might be. She was always amazed at how well skippers and pilots could navigate themselves so well out in the open ocean with no landmarks for guidance. “How long have you known Matt?” asked Alan over the headsets. “Only a few weeks,”
