The alarm went off at 7 a.m. Thinking she had only been asleep an hour, she hit it as hard as she could with a pillow and turned over to be ‘nose to whiskers’ with her overweight Similasan.
"Hi Beth". Bryn muttered. Beth growled and jumped off the bed.
"I'm sorry, did I disturb you?"
Bryn inherited the evil being from her sister before she left for college last fall. "It'll be good for you!" Bonnie told her as she packed her car. "I can't take her with me, and you know she loves you. She'll keep you company when you are at home!" Bryn decided the cat was more curse than blessing. The four legged creature didn't like her. In fact, the evil bag of fur would find ways throughout the day to torment her with gifts of pain and misery. Like now, cat breath and complaints. Beth was a beautiful cat. Larger breed, silver and tan, a Hymilaian/Siamese cross. Long hair with Siamese markings and the worst attitude ever. Yes, the kind of friend you could count on to leave dead animals in your bed. Bryn shook her head and turned back and sat up. Lifting herself out of her bed she drug herself to the bathroom.
She was determined to find a job today. One more night of no sleep and she would go crazy.
'No more pity parties'! She thought. 'She was an achiever, a go-getter!' She would make this day HERS! She straightened herself up. Brushed her teeth and somewhat ran her fingers through her hair with disgust. ‘Whatever’ she thought, and walked towards the kitchen.
"Going to get my energy started and conquer this day!" She said aloud and forced a positive tone. Entering the kitchen she stopped short, looked around, dropped both arms to her side and changed her mind. She quickly turned to walk back down the hallway to her room. "Damn cat!" she said, shaking her head with defeat.
Beth had dumped the coffee container, the glass of water that Bryn had left on the counter, and the coffee pot to the ground where it shattered to pieces and made a muddy coffee mess. Bryn followed the muddy coffee prints from the kitchen floor, to the counter top, to the top of the refrigerator, to the stove, on to the kitchen table and down through the hallway to Bryn's bedroom. "This cat won't live to see the end of the day!" Bryn yelled, shaking her fist in the air. Beth ran out of the bedroom and shot straight for her cat tree in the living room. With a hiss and a 'don't even think about it' glare.
"WHY!?" Bryn yelled after her. "Evil meat sack!" Beth just glared at her with a "come at me bruh'' look and turned around to bathe. "Bonnie will pay for this.." Bryn muttered through gritted teeth. Slumping her shoulders in disgust, Bryn turned back towards her bedroom and reluctantly headed to start her day. She was still determined to find another dream job. She stopped, slowly lifted her hand to her head. Twisted her face and thought. 'First, get the coffee out of my hair'. "Damn cat". she mumbled.
