Chapter 22

Nora POV

It’s Friday night and Eliza and I are cooking dinner together. The last few days went by calmly, Colin and I texted each other a few times but he’s been really busy on his trip so I didn’t want to bother him. After we had dinner on Tuesday he dropped me off at Eliza’s and carried all my bags upstairs and left after a heated kiss which makes me feel warm again as I think about it. Today we are one week further from the moment we met and we’ve spent a lot of time together since then. These few days apart made me miss him in some kind of way.

“Thinking of him?” Eliza pulls me out of thoughts and I start to blush.

“Can you tell?” I ask with a grin as I chop the peppers.

“You have been standing here with a huge smile on your face while you’re chopping the last vegetables.” She smirks at me with one hand on her hip and I sigh.

“Ok, I admit it. I’m really excited to see him again this weekend.”

“Oh, what are your plans?” Eliza grins as she puts the pasta in the boiling water and I put vegetables in a pot.

“We haven’t really talked about it yet. I guess he’ll call tomorrow and then we will see.” I shrug. Eliza fills up two glasses with rosé and hands one to me.

“I’m really happy you finally found someone that can give you that smile again.”

“Me too. I just hope that he is honest and sincere with me.” I say as I take a sip. The doorbell rings and Eliza and I look at eachother confused.

“Are you expecting someone?” I ask her but she shakes her head. She walks to the intercom and picks up the phone since she doesn’t have a screen to see who’s standing at the door.

“Hello?” She asks but she turns around and shrugs so I guess she doesn’t get a response.

“Hello?” Eliza asks again but a little bit more irritated. I step towards her and take over the phone.

“Does this seem funny to you? You can at least say that this is just a joke.” I say , not expecting an answer but my eyes widen as I hear a husky voice.

“Delivery for Miss Young.” Are the only words he says.

“I didn’t order anything.” I say confused.

“Delivery for Miss Young.” The other person repeats before I hear a click.

“Hello? Are you still there?” I ask but I get no answer so I place the phone back and sigh.

“Maybe it’s from Colin.” I walk to the door and put on my shoes.

“You’re probably right, but he has some weird way of getting you presents.” Eliza raises her eyebrow as she stirs the pots. I open the door and walk down the hallway to the stairs. I go down and when I open the front door I look around to see if the delivery person is still around. There’s no one to be seen so I shrug and I look down. My heart skips a beat when I see a single, white rose is left on the porch. I bend over to pick it up and read the label that is attached to it.

“P.Y.”

The rose falls out of my hand as I hear a car engine roar and when I look up I see a white SUV driving off, tires squealing. In an act of rage I pick up the rose again and throw it into one of the garbage cans outside. I go back upstairs and take a few deep breaths to calm myself down before I go inside Eliza’s apartment.

“And what was the package?” She asks from the kitchen and I kick my shoes off.

“Nothing. Just some stupid youth trying to be funny. I saw them run away when I opened the door.” I shrug and I take another sip from my glass of wine.

“Don’t they have something better to do?” Eliza rolls her eyes and I open the cabinet to grab the plates.

“Apparently not.” I sigh and hand the plates to her. She fills them up for both of us and I grab our glasses and put them on the table as Eliza follows with the food. During dinner we talk about Eliza’s work and her annoying co-workers and about how I’m going to decorate my new place when all is settled with the insurance company and I found a new apartment. Since all of my stuff and furniture is gone I’ll have to buy everything again but it gives me the opportunity to change my style. Just as we’re finished doing the dishes together my phone rings and Colin’s name appears on the screen.

“Hi.” I pick up with a huge smile on my smile.

“Hi there, baby doll.” The way he says those words gives me tingles in my core and I start to blush. Eliza smirks beside me and I wave my hand at her to shut her up but it only makes her laugh so I walk away to the bedroom to get some privacy.

“How was your trip?” I ask as I sit on the bed.

“It went well but it’s good to be home again.” Colin sighs on the other end of the line.

“I can imagine.” I want to say more but I don’t really know if it’s too soon.

“I missed you.” My heart warms at his words and I start to smile again.

“I missed you too.” If he could only see my face right now, red like a tomato.

“How about brunch tomorrow at 11AM?”

“That sounds good to me.” I say as I lay down on my back.

“That’s settled then. I’ll pick you up at 10:30.” I hear the excitement in his voice and it makes me laugh.

“I’m looking forward to it.”

“Me too, baby doll. I’m going to take a shower and get to bed, it’s been a long few days and I don’t want to look like a zombie tomorrow.” Colin says.

“I understand. Have a good night and I’ll see you tomorrow.” I roll over on my stomach and stare out of the window.

“Enjoy your night, sweet dreams baby doll.” Are the last words I hear before he hangs up. I get back from the bed to go back into the living room where I find Eliza sitting on the couch.

“That was some quick phone s*x.” She chuckles and I throw a pillow at her.

“It was just a phone call.” I glare at her as I let myself fall on the couch too.

“Nora, it’s no shame if he doesn’t last that long. There are some solutions for that problem.” Eliza teases me and we both burst out laughing.

“I’m pretty sure he has some stamina. And if he keeps teasing me like that I will find out soon enough.” I c**k my eyebrow at her.

“He sure looks like he has some stamina, and so do his two brothers.” She smirks.

“Eliza! Is there something you need to tell me?” I ask laughing as I take a sip from my glass.

“Oh Nora, you have to admit that it’s not only Colin that looks good from the three of them.” Eliza glares at me as she takes a sip from her glass.

“No, I’m not saying that Jared and Nate aren’t good looking but I just don’t see them in the way I see Colin.” I shrug.

“Yeah, but Colin is off limits for me Nora. You know I wouldn’t try anything and I’m happy you finally found someone who treats you well and makes you feel good. What I’m trying to say is, I wouldn’t mind if Jared made a move on me.” She says and she gets up and walks to the fridge to get the bottle of wine.

“Do what you want with Jared, I don’t care. Just keep in mind that he’s not really into the whole relationship thing.” I try to warn her.

“Oh Nora, you know that’s not really my thing either. I’m just curious what he’s like inside the bedroom.” She looks at me with an insinuating look and I facepalm myself.

“Just use a condom please.” I sigh before we both burst out laughing. We spend the rest of the night watching some romcom and drinking wine and when it’s time for bed I take a quick shower before I go to sleep and fantasize about my happy reunion with Colin tomorrow.
