Chapter 7

1756 Words
Colin POV “Nora Young, sir.” She looks me straight in the eyes with the most beautiful, bright blue eyes I’ve ever seen. Then she turns her head away in embarrassment. I raise my left hand to gently grab her chin and turn her face back to me. “It’s ok, baby doll. You’re save now.” I say in a soft voice and I can feel that my words make her relax a little bit. A tear rolls down her cheek, I see the sadness in her eyes and my heart breaks a little at the sight of it. I wipe it away with my thumb and she gives me a small, cute smile. “Thank you, sir.” She sobs. I gesture her to take a seat in one of the sofas, my brothers already took a seat in one. “Please, make yourself comfortable.” She turns around and walks over the sofa, I can’t help myself but trail her body with my eyes and damn what a stunning body she has there. I turn around and gesture to Charles to bring us some drinks then I pull one of the recliners to the sofa where Nora had took a seat so I sit right next to her but still giving her some personal space. Charles comes over with a tray full of glasses filled with bourbon. “Here you go guys.” He hands them out to each on of us and leaves. “Thanks Charles.” And I hand him a tip before I turn myself to Nora. I see her taking a sip of the bourbon and pulling a sour face. “What’s wrong babydoll? Not really into alcohol?” I say as I take a sip myself. I hear Jared chuckle and glare at him making him collect himself again. “No, I’m just more into softer liquors like wine.” She says shyly. “Shall I ask for some wine?” I suggest. “No no, thanks sir. It’s fine.” She responds quickly. “Nora, you’ve already met my brothers, Nate and Jared. Please don’t call neither them or me ‘sir’. And since you called me your boyfriend like five minutes ago I believe we can skip that formality for sure.” I assure her, giving her a soft smile. “Now, if you’re comfortable about it, can you tell us what made you so upset and why that poor piece of sh*t had the audacity to come in here and yell at you like that?” I give her a sympathetic look. She nods her head and takes another sip from her glass. Then she takes a deep breath through her nose while she closes her eyes before exhaling a long breath between her plump lips. She starts telling her story and I feel my anger build up in my whole body. I just can’t believe he did that to her. I notice that even Jared has his jaw clenched at hearing what happened to her and Nate is looking at her with empathy all over his face. That’s how I know my brothers. Nate is the youngest and has always been the most kind and friendly one. Jared on the other hand, the middle one, has always had a short temper and a rather rude way of handling people. But it doesn’t surprise me that he’s tensed up right now, he can’t handle abuse like that. Although he will never engage himself in a relationship and rather just has all the fun but not the drama with woman, resulting in a bunch of onenightstands and friends with benefits, he will always respect their boundaries. “And then I ran into you.” She says to Nate. “That motherf*cker! I knew we should’v tor...” “Hush, hush Jared.” I interrupt Jared in his ranting and Nate and I both glare at him to keep his mouth shut. “I think your punch has brought enough damage to him... for now.” Jared chuckles at my words, knowing too damn well what I meant with them. “I’m so sorry for getting you guys into my trouble.” Nora excuses herself with her eyes half shut. I lean forward to her and lay my hand on hers. “Don’t apologize Nora, I’m glad you ran into Nate and let him bring you here. Who knows what would’ve happened to you if that b*stard got a hold of you a second time.” I try to comfort her, giving a little squeeze in her soft hand. “Don’t get me wrong guys. I’m really thankful for what you did but jezus, Nate, look at your nose.” She sighs. “Don’t worry, I’ve had worse injuries.” Nate shrugs unconcerned. “Yeah, I think you look a lot better now than a half hour earlier.” Jared teases him and gives him a slight push at his shoulder. Nate responds with an elbow strike, making Jared cringe. It makes Nora giggle a bit and I’m glad my brother managed to make her regain her smile. Then she turns to me. “Colin, I really want to thank you for helping me but I just don’t know how I can repay you.” I can see she feels a bit uneasy. My thoughts wander for a while before I come up with a proposition. “I guess there is something you can help me with, Nora.” “And that is?” She asks reluctantly. From the corner of my eye I see Nate and Jared staring at me confused. “There is a benefit gala that my brothers and I need to attend tomorrow night and it is always better to have charming company.” “Wait, hadn’t you asked Felicia yet?” Nate asks me and I turn myself to him. “Yes I did, but she was already booked by another man.” I respond and when I turn back to Nora I see a very confused look appear on her face. “Normally we choose for an escortservice, since the ladies have professional secrecy and therefore can be thrusted fully when business is being discussed at events. I particularly prefer not to take a random woman.” I explain to her and then I glare at Jared. “Jared on the other hand doesn’t seem to have any problem with it.” And I see him chuckle in his fist before he shrugs. “Ok... so I just have to accompany the three of you to this gala, nothing more? Because I’m not planning on giving the same services as the escorts you usually bring along.” Nora points out to us. “Nora please, don’t get my brother wrong here.” Nate joins in the conversation again. “We do not use ‘those’ services from the ladies. We just hire them for appearance.” He tries to reassure her and I see her relax again. “So do you want to accompany us tomorrow?” I ask her nicely while I look into her beautiful eyes. “I guess I could do that.” She says hesitantly with a little smile. “But I’m afraid I can’t find a proper dress to hire in time.” She continues and I can see she’s feeling a little bit ashamed for it. I know a lot of men and woman hire the outfits they wear to a gala or similar events because they are usually quite expensive to buy and especially women don’t like to wear the same outfit twice. Some stupid unspoken rule between them I never understood. “Don’t worry about that.” I squeeze her hand again. “I’ll have you a dress delivered at your place, do you want a stylist too for your hair and make-up?” “No thank you, I’ll handle that myself.” She answers quickly. “The dress will be more than enough.” “Ok, shall I walk you to your car so you can go home and rest?” I ask her while I finish my drink. “My car wouldn’t start this morning so I walked but it’s not that far, don’t worry about it.” She answers me again with her eyes shut down. “Oh no you won’t. I’m not letting you walk through these streets alone at this hour. I’ll give you a ride.” “Colin, I’ll be fine.” She laughs while she squeezes my hand now. Her touch makes me feel things I haven’t felt in a very long time. But still I hate the thought of women walking alone at this hour, so I strengthen my voice a little bit. “No discussion Nora, I’m driving you home.” I glare straight into her eyes and I notice she can see I’m dead serious. “Ok, ok mr. Control.” She teases me and I hear Nate and Jared chuckle at her words so I glare at them. If only she would now. The ten minutes ride to her place was rather quiet but she seemed to enjoy the silence and just looked out of the window so I let her be. I park in front of the apartment block and turn myself to her. “So, I will have a dress delivered her around 3pm is that alright for you?” “Yes, that’s fine.” She nods. “And I’ll send someone to pick you up at 7:30pm.” “Ok, I’ll be ready by then.” She assures me. She lays her hand on mine that was on the shifter and again her touch makes me feel the same as in the pub. Then she looks me straight in the eye. “Colin, I am really thankful for your help and your brothers. I don’t know how much I can say it.” And I chuckle at her adorable innocence. “You’ll thank us enough by just showing up tomorrow and join us to the gala. Now try to get some rest.” She begins to take off my leather jacket I gave her since she left her coat at her office. “No please Nora.” I hold her. “It’s ok, you can give it back tomorrow.” And I give her a smile. She nods and opens the door. “Thank you. I’ll be there tomorrow.” She gets out of the car and closes the door. Then she gives me a small wave before she turns around a walks away. I stare after her and feel my privates harden. “Colin, don’t. She’s too kind to become involved in your business.” I mutter to myself while I drive home to my place.
