Chapter 11

1967 Words
Nora POV Colin presents his arm and I hook my arm through as I smile at Nate and Jared who both greet me with a small bow. “Good Evening Nora.” Nate says in the kind way I know him so far and I nod my head at him. “How nice of you to join us with your beauty.” Jared says in a played, humble way, with a small grin on his face as he takes my other hand and places a kiss on top of it, making me laugh a little. I misjudged him the first moment we met, after he reacted so quick to protect me from Jack yesterday I know that he’s not that bad. “Watch it, Jared.” I hear Colin groan and I’m surprised by his slight possessiveness, although it charms me. “Nice to see you all again.” I greet them back with a smile, feeling Colin’s eyes burning in me. “Shall we?” He gestures to head inside and I nod, letting him lead the way and have Jared and Nate follow us. Once we enter through the door I get overwhelmed by the amount of beautiful gowns and smokings I see and I feel butterflies as Colin leans in to me. “Don’t worry baby doll, you blend in very well. And from what I see, all eyes are looking at your divine appearance.” He whispers in my ear, having a shiver run down my spine. He places his hand on my lower back and leads me further through the crowd. As we go stand around a bar table we chat about casual subjects, nothing too serious. After an hour or two and meeting some people that the men know I tell Colin I want another drink so he suggests to get away from the table for a moment. We walk over to the bar to take a drink and as I take my first sip I almost choke at what I see. “Are you ok?” Colin asks me, concerned. I discreetly point in the direction of a couple strolling towards us. “Do you see that man in a blue smoking accompanied by the blond lady in pink?” I ask him. “Yes, what’s wrong with them?” He asks me with a smirk, making me glare at him. “That’s Dan, my ex-boyfriend. Didn’t end that well and now he is probably coming over here to make me jealous with his new girlfriend.” I cringe and I feel Colin wrapping his hand around my waist as we both see the greeting smile on Dan’s face. “I don’t know your ex but I do know the lady and you don’t have to worry about that.” Colin reassures me with a smirk on his face. I really don’t get it but I fix my posture as they approach us. “Long time no see Nora, how are you doing?” Dan asks in the arrogant tone he always had towards people with a lower background than him. Before I even get a chance to answer he turns himself to Colin and reaches out his hand to him. “Dan Anderson, nice to meet you.” He says with a smile, the lady on his arm looking at Colin with lustful eyes but he ignores her and shakes Dan’s hand. “Colin Davies, nice to meet you.” He replies with a firm handshake and I laugh internal as I see Dan pull a painful grimace before they let loose. Then the blonde woman reaches out her hand to Colin. “You look familiar to me sir, have we met before?” And I can see the smile on her face as she looks into his eyes. “I don’t think so miss, but nice to meet you. Colin.” He says politely and shakes her hand as well. “Felicia.” She answers with a smile and then it falls to me. This is the escort that usually comes along with them and I suppress a feeling of unexpected jealousy. “Nora, this is my girlfriend Felicia.” Dan says while they both turn to me and when I see the grin on Felicia’s face as she looks at Dan I manage to keep in a chuckle as I know what is really going on and he is just trying to make an impression. “Nice to meet you.” She reaches out her hand and I shake it while she gives me a wink. “Nice to meet you too.” I answer with a fake smile and I catch Dan watching at Colin’s hand around my waist, getting a little nervous. “So, and what are you two? Dating, hooking up?” Dan asks me in his arrogant tone that I always hated and I feel myself tense in Colins grip. I believe Dan did love me in some way but he always managed to make me feel like I wasn’t good enough, like I was never going to fit in his wealthy lifestyle because my parents weren’t rich so I wasn’t from a wealthy family like him. “I don’t do hookups, I believe in building a sincere relationship and not fooling anyone.” Colin starts off before I could say anything and I feel his hand tighten around my waist, giving me shivers. “Now if you will excuse us, I would like to introduce my girlfriend to some business partners.” He continues with a stern face and a hint of irritation can be heard in his tone. I feel him pulling me away into the crowd. “You didn’t have to do that you know?” I tell him, feeling a little embarrassed of what just happened and he bows his head to me. “I felt the tension between you two and since he was trying to make you jealous, hoping you would believe his little show with an escort, I felt the need to give him a taste of his own medicine. And from what I saw, it worked.” He says as we arrive to where Nate and Jared are talking to some other men. They all turn heads and I feel the two unknown men trailing their eyes up and down my body. “Good Evening Colin, I haven’t seen this one yet.” The brown haired, middle aged man says. “Yes, indeed. What agency are you from?” The other one, blond with the beginning signs of grey, asks me with sparks in his eyes. Again I feel Colin’s grip tighten and as I look at him I see his jaw clench. Then I look at Nate and Jared and they stare with wide eyes at their brother, probably knowing the look on his face doesn’t mean anything good. “She doesn’t work for an agency, she’s not an escort.” Colin grits through his teeth and I decide to have his back like he did earlier and I turn myself to him, laying a hand on his cheek. “Don’t worry my love, they probably just can’t get their head around the fact that they have to rely on an agency to put a nice looking accessory among their side, because the accessory they have at home is out of fashion and you just came in with the highlight of the newest collection and you didn’t even have to pay for it.” I say loud enough for the two men to hear my words and I hear Jared and Nate trying not to burst out laughing. Colin’s eyes turn dark as I see his chest expand and his lips separate slightly. I decide to be bold and lean forward to him, pausing when I’m just inches away from him. “Right?” I whisper against his lips and then he grabs me around my waist and pulls me close to him. “Right.” He whispers before he presses his lips on mine and a whimper escapes me as I feel his tongue seeking access to my mouth. Our tongues strangle each other and I feel Colin’s hands trailing up and down my back. Our kiss starts to heat up until we get pulled out of it as Jared starts laughing. “Ok love birds, you scared them away. You can stop now.” And we unstrangle ourselves, gasping softly while our eyes stay focused. I snap out of trance and turn my head away, looking at Nate who’s staring at me in shock. My cheeks start to blush and I get overwhelmed by embarrassment. “I’m sorry. I need to use the restroom.” And I walk away through the crowd. As I enter the restroom I go straight to the sink and let the cold water run over my hands before I tap them on my chest and neck to cool myself. I look at myself in the mirror and take a few deep breaths to ease my heart rate. After I use the toilet I decide that I’m calm enough to go back to Colin and the others. I try to find my way through the crowd until I see Jared so I walk over to him and interrupt his conversation with a woman. “I’m sorry to interrupt Jared but have you seen Colin?” I ask him as I lay a hand on his arm and he turns his head to me, smiling. “Don’t be sorry doll, he’s over there.” He points at a standing table a few feet away. As I look in the direction my eyes meet with Colin’s straight away, making my body heat up again. “Since when did Colin’s escort get so familiar with you?” I hear the woman ask in a snippy tone but it doesn’t get to me. “She’s not his escort. She is his...” Is all I hear of Jared's reply as I’m drawn towards Colin and all my surroundings get blurry. Once I get to him he smiles right away and then I notice Nate is standing by him, giving me an awkward smile before he starts talking to another man standing next to him. I feel Colin’s arm wrapping around me once again as he leans in to me. “Cooled down, baby doll?” He whispers in my ear and I hear a smirk coming right after. “I don’t know what you are talking about, sir.” I try to keep my posture as I feel my cheeks blush again. “Oh I think you know well enough what I’m talking about miss Young.” He whispers again and his hand starts to travel downwards over my ass. “I think you felt the same thing after you tricked me into that kiss.” He continues while he caresses my buttcheeks through the satin fabric of my dress, giving me goosebumps all over my body. Before I can answer I feel my phone vibrating in my clutch so I grab it and read the text. Eliza: “So how is your date so far? And are you gonna make it to the club? X” “Who’s it from?” Colin asks me, pausing his touches. “It’s my best friend, she's at the club and asks if we want to join her tonight. But I told her before that I’m not sure how long we have to be here and I totally understand if you’re not into clubbing.” I tell him, giving him a small smile. “Which club is it?” He asks before taking another sip of his drink. “Bocadero (*), I don’t think it’s really your kind of club to go to.” I say shyly and he smirks. “Well, I guess we’re going to find out then. And it’s boring here after all. Text her we’ll be there in twenty minutes.” He tells me before he signals Jared that we’re leaving, and I eagerly unlock my phone to tell Eliza that we’re coming. Once we’re all together we leave the gala, taking the limousine to the club. (*) any similarities with real life clubs or anything else are mere coincidence.
