Chapter SixBy the time Sophie arrived at St. Mary's the sun was shining and her good mood had returned. She parked up, checked her reflection in the mirror and then rushed to catch up with Andrea, the year one teacher, who was struggling across the car park, carrying a huge box.
“Morning!” Sophie called, “here, let me help you.”
“Hello! Sophie it's lovely to see you,” Andrea gratefully passed over a wedge of folders and paperwork.
“How has your summer been?” Sophie chattered away, glad that she had made the effort to come into school today. It would have been so easy to call up and make some excuse, but keeping busy was the best medicine, Sophie acknowledged, in her case anyway.
“Good,” Andrea replied with a nod, “I've spent quality time with my children and I've been running.”
