Chapter Sixteen - Resilience

Looking around Eso's study at all these dangerous wolves I could sense they wanted me dead. Their smiles taunt me with welcoming lies of bonding. I fix my eyes on Eso's, “Will you join me for breakfast?” I offer to him.

“No. I have business to attend to all morning but you may join me for lunch again on the top floor's balcony.” He informed me.

Returning to his desk and papers before it he ignored mine and Tessa's presence. I look around the room once more to see the Delta and Gamma Females kissing and hugging their mates good bye. Tessa and I keep a few paces ahead as we head back to Hailey and Rhea.

With a sarcastic tone Viviana spoke up “How easy of prey we shall become once news spreads of our luna and beta hybrids.”

Isaura feigned worried, “So many lives would be lost in the attacks.”

Tessa kept herself poised as we came up to the door, I was doing my best to not react as they wanted, even though their words rang true from them. Viviana snidely remarked, “Oh no Izzy, You don't suppose any precious human slaves will be harmed do you? We couldn't bare it if our luna's human family were caught up in the middle of all this.”

Isaura turns to Viviana “Alpha has wanted that estate for years so it wouldn't be a total loss would it Vi?”

Tess and I stood at the door keeping our black eyes locked on theirs, Viviana replied, “In fact, one could say it would be in the best interest to simply, remove the frail beings in Alpha Eso's way. for him to ensure only the strong worthy ones survive.”

They had so much contempt for those they felt were lower than they were. Rhea's opening the door snapped me out of my urge to stab my hand through Viviana's stomach, letting her bleed out while she watches me use her entrails to strangle Isaura.

Rhea bows to me “Luna would you like to have breakfast served in your room or would you prefer to join everyone down stairs in the main dinning hall?”

Isaura interrupted laughing “Of course you would take my used up omega! Omega! Be sure to show her that little game I use to play with you.” Her grin was pure evil, she enjoyed hurting others and it was making Rhea uncomfortable.

Before anything escaladed I clarified the matter, “I must educated you two on an issue, Rhea is my Handmaiden. Meaning she is to be treated as an extension of myself so says Alpha Eso.”

Isaura laughs again. “Ya but she is an omega.” She gazed at me mater of factly, “she is useless as anything else. Alpha loves how I am molding her into a good girl now.” Her eyes blackened as did Viviana's, “Or maybe its you he wants me to mold into a good girl for him.”

Tessa stepped in front of me slightly, ready to attack if either of them make a move. Viviana smirks “Oh so tense. We were just playing luna. We meant no disrespect to your frail human nature.” she apologized. They both then turned leave down the winding staircase tucked in the wall.

I turned to Rhea and now Hailey, “Lets join the others today.”

Rhea and Hailey walked in front of us as we made our way down all the flights of steps until we reached the bottom. From there we crossed the huge open floor at the main entrance, it was large enough to be used as the whole town's dance floor.

We entered a room with a long singular table that wrapped around itself in a circle having removable chairs. Trays and carts lined the wall nearest the door from where all the bustling and delicious smells were coming from.

Faces turned our way. Many more eyes watched incredulously. Rhea and Hailey froze unsure of where to sit. Scanning the seats I saw across the room where there were three seats empty, the dark haired woman who sat at the alphas table last night and another empty seat. I lead us around the table with everyone staying in the conversations at hand.

We reach the black haired woman, “Excuse me, would you mind scooting over so us four may sit together.”

She grunts, “The name's Kiada for future reference, Zeta of the Pack.”

“Well thank you Zeta Kiada.” I am grateful she didn't give me a problem over it though she didn't seem thrilled.

Isuara and Viviana sat away form each other Isaura was standing scooted next to a Zephyr not the Rowan fellow I saw in Eso's study. She is grabbing on this Zephyr and laughing before she punches the other man in the mid section whilst he was unaware. He looks infuriated but doesn't react. In fact, she is rubbing all over Zephyr and he looks uncomfortable but doesn't stop her.

Viviana seems to be enjoying her breakfast. She is eating with another beautiful female with midnight skin and piercing gold eyes. Several men sit huddled around them but with an empty chair by Viviana's side. All seem to be smiling and attentive to one another.

One of the omega's came from the kitchen to take our breakfast order. He tried to gracefully ignore my new handmaidens, until I corrected him. It is as if they all want me to treat them as dogs. They may not like that the order of things is being taken over by a once human but I am going along with their rules thus far.

Our foods came with little excitement while we all discussed our days schedule. Kaida ate quickly then was gone. Her seat stay empty momentarily until the Delta Bedwyr walked in with a short haired blonde woman. The hair cut was completely unconventional but she looked adorable with the way it flared out around her ears. Rowan pinched at her thighs trying to get a reaction while Bedwyr made an attempt to wrap his arm around her waist. She politely side stepped and dodged their advances all while smiling. It was as if she danced around them, she was very quick on her toes.

Isaura and Vivianas attentions both fixated on their Mate's advances making a spectacle here for all to see. Their reactions differed. Viviana returned to her conversation ignoring the scene while Isaura left Zephyr's lap. Storming over to Rowan who was placing his face into her neck with any opening he got, trying to lick it.

Isaura punched the blonde woman across the face. Causing Bedwyr to let out a chuckle, “What's wrong with you Gamma Isaura? You can play but my cousin is forbidden?”

She was glaring at Rowan while Bedwyr helped the blonde girl stand. His hands I noticed grabbed at her rear multiple times as she pulled away. All while smiling and remaining polite. Isaura began punching Rowan across the face. Her eyes were blackened and she was letting her fury out on him.

I couldn't bare the scene before me any longer, “Enough, Bedwyr release the young woman from your clutches so that she may have a meal! Isaura! Stop punching your Mate!” I yelled loudest to her, being certain she could hear me over Rowan's bones cracking. He just stood there and let her keep hitting him. He never raised his fists to block or combat her.

No one listened. Viviana smirked looking me dead on. Making sure I know how little power I hold at the moment. In her mind any way. Bedwyr smirked coming up behind the girl and pulling her in to his mid section for a deep tight hug. Keeping his hands pushing into her pelvis and His head rested at the base of her neck. Though I knew he wanted to get a rise out of me I felt the shift in Viviana. She did not actually like her mate touching another so intimately. What made it worse was him going near her marking spot that was left unclaimed.

Viviana tried not to show it but she felt betrayed and unworthy of him. Isaura drew her leg back, kicking Gamma Rowan straight in the groin. He looked like he was going to vomit with the impact but was stubborn enough to not give her this satisfaction.

Bedwyr shook his head “That's not right Isaura.”

I Yelled once more rising from my chair, Tessa quick to follow, “I said Enough!”

She drew back her leg again and Rowan braced for the impact. Beta Alcrea rushed in pushing Isaura a side, “Hit him again and it will be me you are facing. Is that understood Isaura.” He stated to her.

“Understood Al-cree” she spat in the brattiest of tones. Before turning to Rowan, “Mate come sit with me I want fed like Alpha does.” She pulled on him so that she seemed more playful. She drug him back to where she sat shooing away the other guy from the chair next to hers.

Alcrea stood looking at Bedwyr wrapped around the woman, “Bedwyr release Theta Nixie,” His voice sounded unamused, “and go sit with your mate.”

Bedwyr played shocked. Looking up and down Nixie as if he had thought she was suppose to be Viviana. “Oh my word!...” He raised his hands up in the air goofing like his hands had done no wrong, “..wife! I have been looking for you!” He pranced over to sit in the empty seat next to her, “There is some magikal snookery afoot.” He pointed straight into the air. “People appearing to be what they are not. We are going to have to remedy this situation.” He exaggerated to Viviana while playing with his beard causing her to giggle.

His words were playful blades in a child's hands. He would give me the biggest threat to deal with before Eso. I can sense every bit of his intentions. How dangerous he really is. Nixie bowed to Alcrea before walking around the table to sit with us.

“Good Morning Luna!” she was so cheery and unperturbed by the entrance she just made. “I am Theta Nixie the Lead Healer of the Black Moon Pack, any troubles at all that you're having just tell me!” She plopped down giving her order to the Omega servant, “Just the usual, Nelson”

“Troubles?” I questioned

“Yea, Any sicknesses or aliments, OR when you are with child!”

She was very excited about that last part. I on the other hand had not considered that to be something I actually wanted or not. I wanted children when I was with Garrett but the idea of becoming pregnant by Eso made me queasy. What if I was unsuccessful at keeping his advances at bay. Worse. What if I succeed in my mission and then his child survives in me?

“Like a doctor?” I quickly ask to change my mind from wandering

“Pretty much that is what I am only our studies are more advanced than that of humans are today. We focus on healing the all of you, not just your body, but we do specialize in emergency care.” She giggled

Nelson returned with a cloth sack. “Thank you Nelson! Tell Lurana I said I will be by this evening with cream for Kieran” Nelson nodded before retrieving used dishes pushed aside. Nixie spoke once more, “It was nice to formally meet you Luna Octavia. I shall see you by dinner!”
