Father?..... Guardian?

"You know, I just can't get angry at you even if I try." The man said while still frowning and shaking his head almost like he was disappointed in himself. Sheyken was still dazed and had a horrible headache. He knew at that point that what he feared had come to pass, he had died. The man come closer and touched his forehead with his index finger and a small light formed where the man's finger was touching Sheyken's forehead and with it came a soothing sensation. In seconds his headache was gone. "How did you do that just now?" Sheyken asked dumbfounded. "...I Just removed the corruption that was eating your soul." The man answered while shrugging his shoulders. "Then can you do it again?" The feeling was just so good he wanted to bask in it forever. "It was the only way to heal you." The man said while giving him a big smile. "Do you want me to put the corruption back?.. Kids have no shame these days." The man said while shaking his head. Sheyken was not buying it. Maybe the man was mad at him or something. 'He did say I was late.' Sheyken thought. "Thank you." He finally said while taking a good look at the person in front of him while he was standing up. The man in front of him was as ordinary a warrior from the Middle Ages could be. He was taller than him, almost two meters tall with a soldier cut white hairstyle, a manly face, and broad shoulders with arms for days. He had shades covering his eyes, was wearing a Hawaiian-styled shirt, brown shorts, and sandals. He looked friendly to be around and at the same time, you never wanted to mess with him. "What's with the shades?" Sheyken asked. "Well, it is bright as hell in here, don't you think?" The man said while taking off the sunshades. That is when Sheyken saw them. The man's eyes were like the universe itself, but yet chaotic. At that moment, he felt like an Ant in the vast ocean with no direction in the universe. At the same time, he was not afraid. Something was telling him this man had the answers he wanted and he felt a warm feeling in his soul. The man put his shades back on again. It seemed he wanted to show him his eyes. "Mmmmm..... you are still calm after seeing my eyes.... That's my boy....no wonder you could kill a demon. The man said while nodding. "A demon?... You mean that faceless man I just fought was a demon?" Sheyken could not believe it. He never thought he would ever kill a demon. He did not miss the fact that the man called him his boy either. The man smiled and came closer, giving Sheyken a hug. His huge arms almost swallowing him whole. "We don't have time.... you were supposed to come here three days ago but you decided you didn't want to die." The man said while letting go of him. "We have an hour at most, and I want to get you up to speed before you go to Planturos where you will reincarnate, so I will try to explain things as clearly as I can and will leave the other stuff that is not imported to you at the time being. You will get to know them when we meet again." Sheyken just nodded his head and let him continue. "First, let me introduce myself...My name is Apophis....the Guardian of Chaos." "You not a god?" Sheyken had to ask. "No, a god is something even us Guardians cannot fathom. We know they exist but only a few of us have ever communicated with them, but that is not what I wanted to tell you. You will eventually get all the answers to all your question when you are strong enough." Apophis answered. "As I said, I am the Guardian of Chaos. Without chaos, I cannot exist and with too much chaos, I would gradually fade away as my divinity would be slowly corroded away while trying to calm the chaos and as I would disappear, another Guardian would be born in the chaos, calming it down and in the process sucking in the divinity created by the chaos over time. That is how we are born and die. I guard the chaos. We are called Guardians and not gods because of that." Apophis posed for a moment to let what he said sink in Sheyken's mind. Sheyken was still trying to process all that information bit by bit. He wasn't prepared for all the bombshells Apophis was throwing at him. He decided to ask a question. "So, how many Guardians are there?" "They're so many, but a limited amount of us in each universe which makes the fight for divinity unending, but enough of that.... we don't have time. I've told you about me, so now it is time to know about yourself." Sheyken swallowed some imaginary saliva. His mouth was dry as a desert by this point. Whether it was the fact about Guardians fighting for divinity or Apophis about to tell him about himself, he did not know. "What do you know about Luminescence?". Apophis asked. "I only know that it glows in the dark." Sheyken did not know why the conversation suddenly took a turn for substances used at some nightclubs. Apophis smiled and continued. "Well, let me give you the version of Earth's definition of Luminescence. It is a spontaneous emission of light by a substance not resulting from heat, or 'cold light'. It is thus a form of cold-body radiation. It can be caused by chemical reactions, electrical energy, subatomic motions, or stress on a crystal. In one hundred thousand years, by the storage and usage of divinity, a Guardian will release this energy that we have come to call Luminescence. We collect it and every five hundred thousand years or five cycles of collecting, we can use it to make our body, as you can see mine, as handsome as it is or we can use it to make a child. We mold it with a fragment of our soul together with the genetic code of the species we want the child to grow in too. This must be in a world without any magic or mana in order to make the soul grow. If a planet has mana, it has laws that can't be broken without consequences as we too have laws we cannot break if we still want to exist. This is how you came to be on earth and it is why you can be reincarnated without me having to even use my Divinity." Apophis explained. Sheyken was still lost at the 'Luminescence' part but came around real quick. "So, you mean?" He couldn't finish the question. "Yes, you were adopted." Apophis knew what he wanted to ask. "And you?? He couldn't finish the question again. Apophis answered with a mischievous smile. "YES! you can call me Papa....hahahaha." Sheyken did not know what to say, so he just started laughing too. "Cough...cough! Anyways, let me continue. We asked mystical beings in those planets to integrate our children into the world they are in and that is how you ended up in foster care in England. On your planet, you call them Angels. She was the one driving the truck that bought you here. The truck acts as a springboard to get your soul to this space." "What about the demon." Sheyken couldn't help but ask. "What you must understand is that when the truck missed you the first time, one of the Guardians must have asked a demon to kill you. Those bullets were blessed with Divinity in order to kill your body and soul. It must have cost whoever hired it a lot. If you died because of them, your soul would have vanished." Apophis paused a little as what he was about to tell him was not good for anyone's ears. "Unfortunately, this means that your friend's soul is no more. Sarah was attacked too while the demon was tracking you, but fortunately, she died by its hands. I used my Divinity to reincarnate her on Planturos but this means she won't have her memories since she cannot pass through here. The demon was from Planturos, that is why it was so weak and had no mana. The universe has laws and when you break them, you suffer the consequences. I guess they couldn't get a demon from Earth fast enough. It is back at Planturos now. When you stabbed it in the chest you missed its heart, they can move it around their bodies. It was dead and would have stayed dead when you chopped its head off, but when it returned to its domain it circulated mana in its body and started to heal its self automatically. You should rest assured that it will come for you to finish what it started, it's a demon after all." Sheyken did not know whether to laugh or cry. He did not know Sarah that well and could only wish Beak- hyun was in that situation too, but you cannot change the past. She died because of him and he will protect her next time if they ever met again. They said 'revenge is better saved cold' and he was going to dish it in large quantities. The chaos in him was raging but calm at the same time.
