Selene's POV
My bag was filled, and I squeezed in all the clothes I had. It was nothing fancy, but I knew I was not about to stay in this pack one more night.
Since the ball, the humiliation and embarrassment I received was more than enough to drive me away and for some funny, I don't blame Kieren, like who would?
I was just an omega, the lowest of all omegas and he was the Alpha, the king and the ruler of the biggest pack in Howling Hills.
My bag was set on the bed after I had packed. I walked up to my shabby mirror, looking at my reflection right back at me. The color was confusing but I loved it.
"Selene!" A voice interrupted my thoughts, I quickly picked up my back and put it under my bed.
"Yes...come in," I said after pushing the bag under my bed. The door opened, and it was Sarah.
"Hey" I greeted nervously
"Hey... I came to see how're you doing, I know you might feel down after what happened. Are you fine?" Sarah asked
I nodded.
"I'm fine... I just need some time alone to think" She looked at me suspiciously.
Sarah's face was filled with pity, it made me mad, I was tired of people pitying me. I have had enough
"Sarah! Don't do that?" I said.
"I'm sorry....I.... just ..." She signed, trying to explain.
"I'm fine... I just need some time to think about everything." I told her.
I couldn't tell her my plan of running away, because she would either stop me or try to follow me. And I felt bad for it.
"Okay fine, but I'm inviting you over for dinner tonight. Would you be there?" Sarah asked.
I nodded in confirmation, as she smiled.
"Great... I would make sure I make you your best dish!." She said, giving me a hug and a peck on the cheek, before going out of the room.
As I watched her leave the room, I felt bad, because I was going to break a promise, and most importantly, her heart.

7:00 pm
The streets of the pack were empty, as people had left for their homes. I looked closely before I ran into the forest, hoping to jump off the wall that was a boundary for the city before day-time.
The forest was dark, but I could see perfectly. The walk to the border was not far, so I began to move faster.
A few minutes into my journey, my mind kept replaying the scene where I was rejected over and over again. " I reject you Selene Arden " the words echoed in my mind.
Just then, I heard a voice. It sounded like that of a she-wolf, I ran over to hide behind the big tree I had seen earlier, hoping I wouldn't get caught.
"We need to lay the ambush soon!" I heard the voice say. It made me realize that this voice was familiar.
"Why does that voice sound so familiar and what ambush are they talking about?" I whispered.
"The ambush is set, Keiren just needs to come here." The male voice answered. I gasped loudly, making them pause and turn. I covered my mouth with my hands and tried to control my breath.
"Who's there?" I heard the male voice call out but I said nothing, hoping the wouldn't come closer.
"Come out, and I will spare you," he said.
"Fuck.. I'm screwed " I said to myself, trying not to panic.
"I would give you until the count to three, if you don't come out, I would be the one to drag you out..." There was a pause. "One..."
"Oh no..." I slowly came out from my hiding spot and my eyes met the two people I least expected. It was Katrina and Cain.
"Katrina? Beta Cain?!" I exclaimed as Katrina gave a smile that sent a chill down my spine.
"The Moon Goddess always finds a way to deliver you to me doesn't she?" Katrina said.
"You... you were planning to ambush the Alpha? I asked her and she smiled callously.
"She knows too much," Beta Cain said and my head turned towards him.
"I guess I finally get to kill you after all" Katrina chuckled, my heart beating fast.
"I need to get out of here!" I whispered, looking around me.
"Grab her!" Cain shouted.
I ran as fast as I could, but it didn't take too long before Katrina was right behind me.
She stopped in front of me, making me stop.
"It was cute to see you try to outrun me." She laughed. Her eyes were filled with mischief, as her claws grew longer.
"Now it's time to meet your maker"
I tried to step back, but my feet felt heavy like it was stuck to that spot. Katrina's eyes were filled with excitement and her claws seemed to grow longer by the minute.
"No, please" I begged, trying to reason with her.
"Whatever it is, we can work it out."
Katrina laughed, her laughter made me more scared. "You think you're in a position to negotiate?" She sneered. "You're nothing but a weak, pathetic omega. And you're going to pay for what you know."
Katrina raised her claws and hit me. I tried to defend myself, but it was too late. Her claws sank deep into my chest and my own life flashed right before my eyes.
As I fell to the ground, I saw Katrina’s face above me, her smile like has just won a long-anticipated battle. "You should have kept your nose out of my business," she said.
And after that, everything went black.

Katrina's POV.
I stood over Selene's lifeless body, I felt nothing but satisfaction. I had finally taken care of bigger problems, and now I could focus on the bigger picture.
"Cain, make sure to dispose of the body" I ordered, turning to Cain, my faithful accomplice.
Cain nodded. "Consider it done"
As we walked away from the scene, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. I had killed, but I knew that the death of an Omega like her wouldn't go unnoticed.
I knew the consequences of my actions would be severe, and I knew that I had to be prepared to face them head-on.
But for now, I pushed those thoughts aside and focused on the task at hand. I had a plan and I was determined to see it through to the end.
No matter the cost.
