Unknown POV:
“I can’t just believe you did that! I thought Derek will go to the amulet by himself, but you took control of his body and force him to take the curse object?” the smiling man stood there shocked after witnessing the chaos that occurred few minutes ago.
“It was necessary for him to have the amulet in order to learn the truth about everything including his legacy which no matter what he does to prevent it, it will come one day but much worse.” His partner spoke calmly.
“Still, this is the first time you have interfere in the matter like this, what made you do it? Is this kid really that special that you to meddle in his decision?” The smiling man asked alarmed. The partner looked at the smiling man and with a simple touch on shoulder, he said “Just trust me on this”. With that he turned back to see on screen that he materialized to see the event that have occurred.
“Look like I underestimated the princess soul strength, she is more capable then I Imagine.” The partner spoke admiringly.
“Really, what have she done?’ The smiling man asked looking at the screen. After seeing the man just smiled “Well I didn’t expect that” His partner agreed and continue to watch as the story of the lost Kingdom unfold.
Derer POV:
I was alive. I must have escaped somehow, for I found myself back in one of the castle’s hallways. It was different, though. It looked brand new. The dull, gloomy castle was now filled with life and beauty. All around me, I saw people in medieval dress, moving about as though everything were perfectly normal. I seemed to have been thrown backward in time. Could it be possible I was in the past? No! That was impossible, so it had to be a dream—except I knew I was awake.
I remembered the mist, and grabbing the woman’s hand, then being sucked into something. Could she have brought me to the past? If so, why? “Follow those servants to the throne room” I heard a voice say to me. It was the same woman’s voice. Since she was the one who had led me there, I figured I might as well do as she told me if I wanted to get out of here. I had no doubt that I was in the past, seeing everything as it had looked before the place become hell.
I followed the servants, who wore long hooded gowns with cinched bodices and ruffled hems, to the throne room. It was huge, mostly empty with a red carpet leading to the throne. There were pillars and windows to the left and right. The floor was of marble. Small steps let up to the platform that held the throne. The entire wall behind the throne was covered with crimson curtains.
I heard a door bang open somewhere behind the curtains. Two knights, a wizard, and King Edmund strode through the curtain. The king’s face was red with anger. “I can’t believe that daughter of mine! Our rule will end if she doesn’t marry it!”
“Marry who?” I asked, but they couldn’t seem to hear or see me. When I tried to grab one of the servants, my hand passes through her. It was as if I didn’t exist. I could only observe the event that transpired.
“My king! She is just a sixteen-year-old girl, and she loves Arthur, not that monster,” said the wizard. “Do you really want her life to be hell just so that you can continue your rule? Don’t you care about her?”
Now I understand that the woman that I spoke to be the princess spirit, how could I be so blind? Wait a minute when I talk to her, she said the person was a monster and now wizard spoke the same way. Could be possible that it wasn’t a real person and if so, why was King Edward forcing his daughter into such marriage? Just for protection? No there is more to this that meet the eye.
“It has protected us and our kingdom from many enemies of ours,” said the king. “If it wants to marry my daughter in exchange for those services, so be it. Rose must realize her role and do as I say.”
The wizard held his tongue, but by the look in his eyes I could see that he was not happy about the king’s decision.
One of the knights spoke. “As ordered, we have sent Arthur away to the war,” he said.
“Good. We cannot have him interfering in Rose’s marriage,” said the king. “We must save this kingdom. Rose will be married within a week, prepare the ceremony as soon as possible. ”
The wizard and the Knights nodded and the King walks away from the room.
I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. King Edward was forcing his daughter into something that she did not desire, and just so he could retain his power! I looked at the servants, they were listening quietly. When the king left the throne room, the wizard told them to inform the princess of the king’s decision.
“It appears the King have utterly lost his sense but I’m not blind like him. That monster doesn’t know that it has no influence on me. Anyway, tell her that Arthur has been sent away, and the king plans to proceed with the marriage,” said the wizard. Then I saw him whisper to servants something of important that I couldn’t or anyone could hear. I wonder why he would do that since no there was around to hear their conversation. Nevertheless I hope it was a plan to stop the marriage, since right now, only the wizard seemed to really care about the princess. The wizard looked very old with his long beard, bushy eyebrows, wrinkled face, and sad gray eyes. He wore a blue gown with flowing sleeves, silver trim, and a silver sash. His blue cone-shape hat was studded with gems, as were his pendant and staff.
I had many questions, yet no one I couldn’t speak to. It was too much to take in. I closed my eyes to think, and the room started to shake. When I opened my eyes, I was in the princess’s bedchamber; it was quite different when I enter in the present time but given circumstance or maybe in rule, the room could have change but none the less this is a beautiful room. The walls were decorated with painting and portrait of different surrounding, lake, forest, people and so on. There was a canopy wooden bed with red thick hanging and plain white sheets. Opposite to the bed was a small dressing table, design with the best wood quality, with oval mirror hanging and upon the table was a jewelry box next to ink bottle and a diary. I look to my left and saw a baloney door where the curtains were moving by the wind that was blowing. I walked through it, to see a person standing on the edge of the baloney. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out, who that person is, her majesty, Princess Rose, staring down from her baloney.
I went up close, to get a glance of her appearance; this is the first time I’m seeing clearly (since the portrait was faded and had to understand) looking at her now with black hair, dark green eyes, high cheekbone, small nose and rosy lips, indeed she was beautiful. For her dressing, she was wearing a long, sleeveless, white dress, with a floral pattern over the white silk material and v- shape neckline, simple and elegant. Her hair was moving with the wind but what caught my attention was the sorrow in her eyes, tears falling down her cheeks, she must already know about Arthur departure. It hurts me to see the princess in this condition, how I wish I could comfort her and tell her that everything would be alright, but I can’t, I am not part of this world, yet, I can only watch and see her shed her tears.
What felt like minutes but were seconds, there was a knock on the door. Princess Rose and I turned our direction toward it, to see who it was. The Princess wiped her tears away and bravely went to the door. Upon opening the door, the servants for the throne room entered.
“Well, what have my father decided?” Princess Rose said sadly. I’m guessing she already know the answer.
“My princess, the Wizard tried his best to convince your father but alas he refuse to listen.” One of the servants informed.
“I see there is no way to persuade my father to change his mind.” The princess said, bowing her head in defeat.
“Don’t fear my Lady, the wizard has plan for you to escape without your father knowing.” Another servant said excitedly.
“How so?!” The princess said confused but trilled at the same time.
With that, the servants explain the plan that Wizard have come up with. It seems that the secret door that we discovered was actually at first was an escape route, in case of great danger to the royal family. I’m not sure when the place was change into a trap zone or how the chamber room came to be but I’m sure that it might had happen after the death of the Princess.
After hearing the plan, Princess Rose face light up with joy “All right. Come tell me when he is asleep, so I can sneak out without any interference,” she said, and then dismissed them. She returned to her dressing table and started writing in her diary. I wonder what she is writing and whether the book is still in the castle. Suddenly I felt the room shaking, I knew I was now going forward but before I went, I saw something behind Princess Rose back, a dark shape of something inhuman was standing behind her. Could that be the demon? And if so, it must know what Rose about to do.
So enough I was back but this time I was standing outside the Princess room. At midnight, the princess slipped out of her bedroom to meet her escorts. She waited by the door that I now knew led to the chamber. However the people who were to help her flee to safety did not come. Instead, the door burst open and several knight surrounded her. Her father marched toward her with fury in his eyes.
When he drew near, he slapped her hard, and then shook her hard. He roared, “How could you, my own flesh and blood, take such a step? Do you have any idea what you were about to do by running away? You could have destroyed us all!”
Rage filled in the princess’s eyes. “Us! No, father. You don’t know the truth. That thing doesn’t care about protecting us. It just wants me to give birth to its heir. After that, it will kill us all,” she said. “Long we have asked it aid, but not anymore. I know that you sent Arthur away so I would have no choice but to marry it. But I do have a choice.”
Freeing her hands, she pulled a dagger from her dress, swinging it around in a wide circle to force everyone to move back.
“You would kill me over this?” cried the king.
“No, not you, father. Myself. I will end this here and now.” She plunged the dagger into her chest. “Arthur! Forgive me, my love.” She crumpled and fell to the floor, dead.
The king embraced his daughter’s lifeless body, crying, cursing, and begging her to come back. But it was over; the princess was dead. Suddenly the room filled with the same mist that had taken my friends, and the knights disappeared, leaving behind only the king and the dead princess.
A voice spoke from the mist. “How disappointing. She was such a beautiful woman for a human. And she ended her life thinking she could escape me! Ah, but she has just brought herself closer to me.” With that the mist entered her body and with it pulled out something of a white light. “I have taken her soul, and now she and I are together—and I will punish her for disobedience. I will torment her with every soul I devour, and make her suffer. I will show her the meaning of pain. This is her punishment!”
What a filthy creature! How dare it torment the princess and consume her soul like that! I understood then why no one ever survived the search for the amulet and the castle. It was all because of this creature. I vowed to find a way to free Princess Rose, and everyone who had been imprisoned.
“Stop right there, demon!” A voice spoke out, surprising the mist and the king. I turned and saw the wizard. He had something in his hand. “You might have succeeded in gaining her soul, but I won’t let you win that easily!”
The mist roared. “Stay out of this, old man! Your turn will come soon enough.” It burst out laughing.
“Let see what can you do once sealed in this amulet!”
Did my ear and eyes deceive me? He had the magic amulet! But wait! how it’s going to stop the demon? Soon enough my question was answered. A strong light split open the red jewel in the amulet, and sucked the mist inside. “Now this amulet is cursed,” said the wizard sadly to the king. “Anyone who possesses it will be able to see the visions of the future, but will die after thirteen days. Only the descendant of the person who defeated this monster once will have the power to kill it again. I will hide the amulet, sealing it off until that descendant appears to destroy it.”
Everything was becoming clearer to me now. Arthur could have killed the demon. The demon needed Rose to make heirs of its own, so it threatened to destroy the kingdom if King Edward didn’t kill Arthur and let the demon had Rose. The wizard’s spell trapped the demon inside the amulet, but cursed it, too. Anyone who possessed the amulet would still be able to use its powers to see the future, but would die, probably by having its soul devoured. But why, I wondered, hadn’t the demon killed Arthur when it had the chance? Or the fact that why it wanted heir of its own? Was to strike revenge against the King family? If so why?
“It was you whispering to me, trying to warn the people not to come here” I said to the princess. “You were the one that save that student and tried to keep the professor alive?”
“Yes, it was I. I didn’t want the demon to get more souls. I couldn’t stand to see more innocent souls suffer.” There was something strange about her, beyond the obvious fact that she was a disembodied ghost from centuries past. It felt as though I had seen her before.
I had another question. “Princess, earlier a strong, cold wind blew in one of the hallways, causing one of the chandeliers to fall. Was that caused by the demon?”
She nodded.
“And it was meant to fall on Carl and me?”
Rose didn’t respond immediately, but when she did, it wasn’t easy for her. “Yes,” she said reluctantly. “It was meant to kill you. Especially you!”
I was stunned, shocked, and frightened. “Why?”
