Finally ready and dressed for the day in my dark blue Jean's and black T-shirt. Grabbing my keys from the desk table and my bag from behind the door. I slip my phone into my pocket, pick up my jacket from the floor and walk out my room closing the door behind me. Trotting down the stairs I'm about to head out the door when I change my mind and make a turn for the kitchen. I make myself a really quick sandwich and take huge bite relishing in the taste. Taking the rest of the sandwich to go I sprint through the front door and race across the street to the 3 story house directly facing mine.
I walk right up to the door and knock already preparing for a bone cracking hug I know will greet me. The door opens to a short dirty blonde five foot five, angry looking woman glaring at me with her hands crossed over her chest. I brace myself for some type of lecture but all that comes straight for me are the arms of woman with a sly smile attached.
Embracing me in a hug that can crush bones, I s**t you not, I squeaked my response. "Good morning mrs.Ward. It's so nice to see you. You. Look. GOOD." "My oh My. Well if it isn't my second favorite boy, you need to visit more. I feel like I dont see you enough. You and Leo always doing some crazy adventure or another. I hope you guys are staying out of trouble." When I finally have enough air back in my lungs to respond I answer all her questions. "Yes ma'am. I miss you as well. And no crazy adventures just tons of training, we gotta be at the top of our game no matter what." Shaking her head a little she mutters under her breath something about my mother and crazy, but I couldn't quite make out the rest.
Shifting on my foot I look up at the sun in the sky then back down to the woman in front of me and just as I'm about to see if Leo's ready she interjects, "now what I have said about calling me ma'am. Call me aunty. It's much younger sounding." She smiles making her look younger already. Just as she was about to say something else Leo bursts through the door at a sprint, with books fly through the air after him and sandwich in hand. Shaking my head a with a sigh I know exactly who the book bullets belong to, and the smile playing on Leo's moms lips told me she did as well. "LEO!!!! GET BACK HERE, SO I CAN WRING YOUR PRETTY LITTLE NECK! " Already sliding into the car and locking the door, Leo rolls down the window with his Leo smile, the one that always gets him in and out of trouble. Shouts in response "You think my neck is pretty?" "LEO!" "I mean sharing is caring no?" And with that response and the growling I could hear coming from the hallway inside the house I knew it was time to go before my friend really lost his 'pretty little neck'. I smile and say my goodbye to mrs.Ward then jog over to my car and slide into the driver seat and start the engine. As were pulling out the driveway a final book comes flying at the shield, I exhale a loud sigh and drive off before my poor car can take any more damage.
"So, you gonna tell me what you did to piss her off this time?" I look from the corner of my eye to see my friend flinch in his seat while swallowing the last of his sandwich. Rolling my eyes, I turn my head slightly to look over at him. "Piss who off?" He tries to brush off my stare. I dont budge. "Leo." With that I hear him start mumbling something under his breath, about cats and ducks, then quickly start speaking, defending himself. Asking why a person would even need two steel balls if they weren't meant for rolling? Aren't dolls for children anyways. Who just leaves them in a perfectly set up pin formation?! By the end of his outburst his chest was heaving and my eyes were wide. "Christ, Leo. I start laughing out loud as hard as I could without losing control of the car. You realize your dead right?" A small smile turns up the corner of my mouth, but I say as somber as I could muster, which was pretty difficult let me tell you cause this was some funny s**t. Elizabeth Vanderhilde, a.k.a Lizzy for short. Well little Lizzy as I call her since I'm a good 4 feet taller, is a bit of uh, a wildcard.
Her and her family aren't orginally from our pack but have been with us as long as I can remember basically grew up with me and Leo, like a little sister. Now a few things to know about Lizzy, 1)never call her Elizabeth unless your itching for a fight, learned that as a child, 2)she throws a very nasty right hook, 3)she has a huge overly obvious crush on Leo. It's kind of cute, however the only person who doesnt realize it is leo himself. And she doesnt seem to realize everyone else already knows. 'Sigh'- young love. 4) family means more to her than anything and if you hurt her family even just say the wrong thing about them even if your part of that family, and well, refer to number two. 5) and this is probably the most important thing NEVER. NEVER. MESS WITH LITTLE LIZZIE'S TINY DOLL COLLECTION. That girl has a weird habit to collect the strangest and unusual knick knacks. And some of her favorites are this set of ducks and cats having tea in various poses. She just thought they were the cutest things in the world and boy oh boy did she love them.
"Come on. It's not that bad. She'll get over it right?" I wipe the tears forming at my eyes and shrug my shoulders. Knowing damn well hes gonna be very bruised up by the next time I see him. "It really was an accident. I just wanted to test the weight of it......" he whispers. Turning my head to look at him over there clearly sulking over what had happened.I reach out my hand and pat him on the shoulder. "When she kills you, I get your CD collection right?" I place my hand back on the steering wheel and continue to laugh through traffic only to laugh a little louder when I catch the daggers being thrown my way from the other side of the car.
