Meeting the Alphas

1262 Words
Grace's heart was beating very fast. She moved back against the wall in the small street. She was scared because seven very handsome werewolf men were around her. She knew she should be very afraid, but her body felt warm in a strange way when they looked at her. "I...I don't understand," she said in a shaky voice. She looked at the eyes of the alpha who had just saved her. "What do you want from me?" she asked. "Isn't this clear?" The man with yellow hair smiled in a way that made Grace feel uncomfortable. He looked at her body slowly, and it made Grace's skin feel warm and tingly. The leader, who had saved Grace, saw that she was getting scared. He looked at the others in a way that made them be quiet. Then he turned to Grace and spoke in a kind voice. "My name is Aiden. We didn't want to scare you, but it's very important that you come with us. We can explain everything when we're in a safe place." Even though Aiden tried to make her feel better, Grace still felt scared. She didn't know these alpha werewolves or what they wanted. A small voice inside her said she could trust Aiden. But her brain told her not to. She shook her head hard. "No way. Whatever this is, just leave me alone!" she said. The other werewolves started talking quietly when Grace said no. Aiden looked upset, but he didn't argue. Instead, he stepped forward and picked Grace up very fast. She made a surprised noise, but it was quiet because her face was against Aiden's chest, which felt very hard. "We don't have a choice," he said. His voice was quiet but very firm. "The prophecy has started...and you're the one we've been looking for." After saying this surprising thing, Aiden started running very fast while carrying Grace. She felt stiff in his arms. The other werewolves ran after them. Grace closed her eyes. She felt angry and scared at the same time. But hearing Aiden's strong heartbeat made her feel a little better for some reason. And deep inside her, that small voice seemed to say, "Finally." When Grace opened her eyes again, they were in the Rocky Mountains. They were in a big, nice cabin in the middle of a forest. She woke up on a soft bed. There was a big fire in the fireplace, making the room look warm and orange. She sat up slowly and looked around the room. It was very nice, with lots of wood and pretty cloth things. It looked like it was made to make people feel good. But Grace still felt nervous because she didn't know why they took her. Someone knocked softly on the door. It made Grace jump. "Come in," she said in a quiet voice. Six of the werewolves came into the room. They were still very handsome, but now they were wearing normal clothes like jeans and shirts that showed how strong they were. They smelled like men and nature, and it made Grace feel warm inside in a way she didn't understand. "I hope you feel better after what happened," said the one called Chris. He spoke nicely. Donald, who had pictures on his skin, took off his leather jacket without saying anything. "Don't worry, darlin'," said Matthew, who was very handsome. He winked at her. "We don't want you to get too hot." Grace frowned at him because of how he said it. Johnathan, who had red hair, sat very close to her. He gently moved some of her hair behind her ear. Only Jason, who was very big and strong, stayed far away. He stood with his arms crossed like he was guarding something. "Sorry we didn't bring you here in a nice way," said Thiago. He looked the youngest, but he was still very serious. He sat on the bed next to her, trying to make her feel better. "But we had to take you somewhere safe." "Safe from what?" Grace said angrily. She moved away from them because being close to them made her feel dizzy. "Why did you bring me here? What is this 'prophecy' your crazy alpha talked about?" No one said anything for a while. Then Aiden came in. Everyone looked at him right away because he seemed very important. He crossed his arms and his face looked serious. "No more games. If you want answers, we'll tell you," he said in a flat voice. He looked at Grace in a way that made her feel warm. "But you won't like what you hear." Grace took a deep breath. She felt very confused and a little scared. But she also wanted to know what was going on. "Okay," she said. "Tell me everything." Aiden sat down in a chair across from the bed. The other werewolves moved around the room, finding places to sit or stand. Grace felt like they were all watching her, waiting to see what she would do. "First," Aiden said, "you need to know that werewolves are real. We are werewolves." Grace laughed a little. "That's crazy," she said. But deep inside, she felt like maybe it was true. Aiden didn't smile. "It's not crazy. It's the truth. And you, Grace, are very important to us." "Why?" Grace asked. She felt very confused. "I'm just a normal girl." Chris spoke up. "You're not normal, Grace. You're special. You're part of a prophecy that's very old and very important." Grace shook her head. "I don't understand. What prophecy?" Thiago leaned forward. "There's an old story in our world. It says that one day, a special human girl will come. She'll have the power to change everything for werewolves." "And you think that's me?" Grace asked. She didn't believe it. "That's impossible." Donald spoke for the first time. His voice was deep and rough. "We know it's you. We can feel it." Grace looked at all of them. They all looked very serious. She didn't want to believe them, but something inside her felt like maybe they were telling the truth. "What... what am I supposed to do?" she asked in a quiet voice. Aiden stood up and walked over to her. He sat down on the bed next to her. Grace felt warm all over when he was close to her. "We don't know exactly," Aiden said. "But we know you're in danger. There are bad werewolves who want to find you and use your power." Grace felt scared when she heard this. "What power? I don't have any power." Johnathan reached out and took her hand. His hand felt very warm. "You do, Grace. You just don't know it yet. We're here to protect you and help you learn about your power." Grace looked at all of them again. She still felt confused and a little scared. But she also felt something else. She felt like maybe this was where she was supposed to be. "Okay," she said slowly. "I'll listen to what you have to say. But I'm not promising anything." Aiden smiled at her. It was the first time she had seen him smile, and it made her heart beat faster. "That's all we ask," he said. As the werewolves started to tell her more about their world and the prophecy, Grace felt like her whole life was changing. She didn't know what was going to happen next, but she knew it was going to be very different from anything she had ever known before.
