Thankfully, only Carol was in the loop about her resignation. Otherwise, she would really be swallowing her pride, quitting only to come back.
Fortunately, Carol wasn't the type to gossip. Seeing Sally return, she smiled and said, "Mr. Makenzie really values you. Keep up the good work!"
"Thank you, Carol!" Sally nodded and smiled.
She hadn't abandoned her plan to resign; she was just waiting to sort out Bella's situation first.
