ISABELLA I woke up in the middle of the night with a dry throat and a heavy ache in my chest. The clock on the nightstand glowed 2:41 AM. The master bedroom was dark except for the faint silver moonlight slipping through the curtains. I sat up slowly, rubbing my eyes, and glanced at the empty space beside me on the massive bed.
