Chapter 3

676 Words
Chloe and Emily went home an hour ago.  I know being a single mother is hard, but at least she has her mother with her.  I made sure the café is locked and started my way to my small rented apartment. The sky is dark with small shiny stars decorating it. It gets cold at night here, but I'm glad Tiffany gave me the keys a few days back to lock the place down. I sighed as I pulled the jacket more closer, it gets cold at night in New York.  I should feel fine. I should feel happy because I've finally got the life I wanted for myself. I finally have freedom yet something doesn't feel right. My thoughts wandered to those blue orbs. They had some darkness in them. But there was just something in them that felt comforting. I was indulged in thoughts of my beautiful customer  as I found myself in front of my apartment building.  I was about to step inside the building when someone pulled a cloth on my nose.  I started struggling. My first thought being that it was him.  I was trying my hardest as he pressed the weird smelling thing more firmly on my mouth.  It's hard to struggle. He is too strong. I started feeling tired and slowly, I succumb to darkness. ****************************** My head's hurting. That's the first thing I thought.  And as I started gaining consciousness,  I came to know that my hands and legs are tied to the chair I am sitting on.  "She should be awake yet." Someone said. Why couldn't I see anything? "Should we call the boss?" Someone else whispered.  Okay I can hear but why couldn't I see anything!? Really Mia? That is your priority? You may be kidnapped by him and you are wondering if you couldn't see!?   The mere thought of him  was enough to scare the crap out of me as I started struggling.   “She’s awake. Call the boss.” One of them said and then came towards me to remove my blindfold off.  For a moment, everything was white around me as my eyesight started adjusting and they roamed around and took in my surroundings.  The room screamed torture. It was mostly dark but there was a light just above me.  I started struggling again as soon as I heard some footsteps approaching. Even a part of me knew that it would be a hundred times better if my abductor was someone else and not him. Then again, who would want me other than him? I have been nothing but polite, kept a low profile. I thought about his few ‘acquaintances’ and started struggling harder.  I was still trying to struggle as the rope dug into my flesh. I can feel the pain but my only intention was to just get free. I didn’t knew when someone was right in front of me, until I felt a hard slap on my left cheek.  My left ear was ringing for a while. For a second, just a split second, I believed that it was indeed him. But then he said, “Quit playing innocent bitch.”  I know this voice. He grabbed my hair and whipped my head up to meet his eyes, and there they were, the blue eyes that had been residing in my mind since the moment they met mine.  Looking in his eyes, I felt a little relieved, even though his eyes were cold, dead. But at least they were better than the black orbs that had been my permanent nightmare cause.  “Amelia Thompson” Unlike before, his tone was dripping with hatred. But then it clicked me, he just said my real name. You see, I hadn’t told anyone about my name except Emily and Chloe. But he knew.  He smirked a dark one. The one that promised doom. Especially when he saw the fear in my eyes.   “Now why were you hiding under a different name Amelia”
