Cassandra's POV
I gulp a lump down my throat and attempt to push the glass doors open but a deep and husky voice yells loudly causing me to freeze in my steps.
I turn around to gaze at a muscular man dressed in a black suit, I presume he is a bouncer at the club.
"ID ma'am." He speaks. His eyes are calculative and his glare is enough to kill. I tuck my hands into my jean pocket and fetch my wallet from it. I open my wallet and flash my ID card in his face. What a good day to thank God that I am legal.
The bouncer squints his eyes to access the ID card before flashing me a small smile and saying "Enjoy your night at the Gozo club." The man says. I nod my head at him and slowly push my wallet back into my pocket. My heart races extremely fast as I make my way into the club.
A familiar Latino song blares loudly from the speakers, the neon lights flash brightly causing my eyesight to blur. The smell of alcohol and smoke is even stronger on the inside and the sight of half naked ladies swaying their bodies effortlessly to the music makes all the men in the club cheer loudly.
The club is a lot more crowded than I thought, my eyes roam around searching for any sight of Jessica but I do not catch a glimpse of her. Instead, my eyes settle on a particular group of girls sitting at the end corner of the bar. A chubby man walks towards them and whispers something to them. They rise to their feet and surprisingly begin to follow the man from behind.
I scrunch my brows in confusion and I slowly begin to trail them. I find it a bit suspicious so I join the group of girls in following the chubby man.
I have no option but to tap one amongst the group of girls as we are being escorted to the back of the club.
"Hi, good evening. Sorry to bother you but what is going on?" I whisper. She eyes me suspiciously before a pitiful smile breaks on her lips. She places her hands across my shoulders and mumbles. "You poor naive thing. We are being escorted to Daniel, for the interview." She says.
Interview? What interview could she be talking about? Perhaps an interview to get a job here? Should I turn back? No! I can not. I need to find my sister by all means and I think the only people who can help me with that are the staffs that work here. Apparently, if I get a job here then I could get closer to them. That way they would not feel reluctant about helping me.
We finally arrive at the secluded area. A man dressed in a grey suit sits on a stool with a champagne glass in his hand. He takes a sip out of the reddish liquid and chokes out a bitter laughter.
Not to mention, the other men, equally dressed in suits surrounding him with guns in their hands. My heart begins to beat rapidly as the man dressed in a grey suit rises to his feet and orders us to remain on a straight line.
What kind of dangerous interview is this? I assume this is Daniel, the one who is to interview us. He hands the champagne glass to one of his boys and walks towards us.
He freezes right in front of us and flashes his brown teeth in our faces. He accesses us one by one and his eyes eventually land on me. He shoots dagger glares at me causing me to avert my gaze to the floor. My legs tremble in fear and I bite my lower lip to hold back the sob that threatens to escape from my lips.
I clench my fist tight and suddenly, Daniel bursts into laughter. I raise my head up to gaze at him and he only laughs even harder. I gaze at the other girls and that is the moment it clicks to me that I am dressed quite different from the other girls. They look sexy, I look casual.
"You!" He snaps at me.
"Y-es s-ir." I stutter.
Daniel points to a pole a few inches away from us. He clears his throat and says "Show me what you got." He winks at me.
He wants me to pole dance, frankly speaking it is not difficult. I have always been a good dancer, especially when it comes to swaying my hips. Jessica taught me how to do that and I swear, I miss her so much. I just wish she would suddenly show up.
I sigh heavily and drag my feet towards the pole. I gather all the confidence in me and grip the pole firmly. I bite my lips seductively and begin to sway my hips even without any music.
"Wow." I hear Daniel scream.
"Who would have thought someone like you had such spectacular skills." Daniel grins widely. I bow my head at him.
"Damn baby!" He cheers loudly. Daniel walks towards me, he reeks of alcohol mixed with sweat and it makes me want to choke.
"Tell me baby, what is your name?" He asks.
"Cassandra." I reply.
"Cass baby, you must have heard of me by now and how I like my things done. This job I am about to offer you, make sure you impress me and fetch me a lot of money. Remember, you get thirty percent of whatever we earn at the club." Daniel says grinning mischievously.
Something tells me that the owner of this club has no idea about Daniel's deeds.
"Agreed." I say forcing a smile on my face. Actually, I am not interested in the money. I just want to find my sister.
"Alright baby, you are hired." He says. I nod my head at him and attempt to walk away but he grabs me by the wrist and leans closer to me.
"Why do you look so familiar though? Have we met before?" He whispers softly into my ears.
