“Wait, just a moment, little rascal…” Elena rested her elbows on the dining table, cradling her forehead with her hands, speaking gently.
Wow,
How tender her words are—so soft and melodious.
What is with her usual cold demeanor?
Ethan Bell instinctively withdrew his hands, suddenly realizing that the star skill he had acquired seemed far from conventional.
What happened to restoring teammates' vitality? Healing wounds?
Why does it have such a remarkable effect on flirting?
The atmosphere in the kitchen was palpably awkward, and for a moment, the room fell into an oppressive silence.
Ethan understood that the girl was shy, and with a playful attempt to break the tension, he quipped, “It seems you received my blessing.”
Elena shot her head up, glaring daggers at Ethan.
If this had happened ten minutes earlier, Ethan would have bet that such a glance would be frosty, filled with disdain and contempt—enough to sting his nerves.
However, in her current state, Elena's glare was almost comically fierce, reminiscent of an elder sister trying to maintain authority despite lacking any real combat prowess.
The power of the Bronze Quality “Blessing” turned out to be quite extraordinary.
What about the “Blessing” after its quality is upgraded? Surely it would be transcendental!
Ethan recalled that, according to Little Pi's memories, both the qualities of star skills and star pets were classified accordingly.
Above Bronze Quality were Silver Quality, followed by Gold Quality, Platinum Quality, and the highest known rank, Diamond Quality.
In Little Pi's recollection, there seemed to be five levels of quality, with Bronze being the lowest and Diamond the highest. According to online information, it was rumored that there were even higher classifications beyond Diamond, but the general populace remained unaware of them—likely available only to those divine beings who wielded higher-quality star skills and star pets.
The world may be oblivious,
But the traverser Ethan is not!
Isn’t it obvious?
Above Diamond lies the Master!
Above the Master, the King!
......
“Truly fortunate to have obtained a healing skill.” Elena mused, her icy tone softening considerably, “With Northern Province being rich in White Spirits, among the awakened ones, those who truly acquire the ‘Blessing skill’ are exceptionally rare.”
“Mm.” Ethan acknowledged that he had been a little mischievous earlier. As the head of the household, the girl attempted to exude authority, leading Ethan to obediently nod in agreement.
“No, you do not grasp the preciousness of healing skills.” Elena sighed lightly, regarding Ethan with the same pity one might offer a foolish son of a landowner.
“Out of every hundred awakened beings, perhaps only one possesses healing skills. This specialized category of star skills is quite difficult to attain. The world is filled with magic-type and melee-type awakened ones, yet those who are healing-type are exceedingly few.” Elena seemed to relax, opening up about the topic.
“Do you know how coveted an awakened being with support skills, particularly those with healing abilities, truly is?”
Elena continued, “After we graduate, we’ll join various governmental institutions, most of which have field personnel. A four-person team is the standard configuration for field workers, and every awakened individual hopes for a healing-type member within their team.”
“A healing-type awakener signifies the team’s endurance and stable combat strength; they can even save the lives of the team in critical moments. Even if a healing awoken only has one healing skill on their star map, that alone is sufficient.”
Elena gazed at Ethan with admiration.
This was the first time since Ethan opened his eyes that he witnessed that high-strung sister affirming him with her gaze.
“Unfortunately, it is merely a Bronze Quality blessing.” Elena shifted her tone, expressing regret, despite her relatively unchanged demeanor. “I no longer need to worry about your future; you can attend school normally, and after graduation, I’ll help you find a hospital job as a doctor. It’s a viable path.”
Ethan: ???
My fate has been predetermined by you?
This body has only just graduated from middle school! What was that phrase again?
I am the blossom of my nation right now! With hard work, I have infinite possibilities!
Little Pi, oh Little Pi, how greatly you must have disappointed your sister.
I had hoped to carve a path of divinity, but Elena has already paved the way for me to become a hospital doctor?
Wait...
On second thought, being a doctor doesn’t sound so bad. For matters that normal medical practices can’t resolve, Ethan could potentially use his star power and skills.
In the future, as Ethan enhances the quality of his “Blessing” skill, he might be able to save critically ill patients, thus performing great deeds.
Isn’t that indeed a meaningful endeavor?
With that thought, Ethan fell into contemplation. He had been in this place for only a couple of hours, experiencing drastic changes and a stream of fresh insights; it was evident he needed time to settle and reflect on his future.
After all, Ethan was no longer a naïve sixteen-year-old but a twenty-five-year-old with the intellect of an adult.
Accepting and integrating into this bizarre world, it became imperative for Ethan to devise a life plan and discover his true aspirations.
While being a doctor is undoubtedly a noble profession that benefits society, isn’t it a bit too conventional?
Having inadvertently entered this surreal world, he yearned to embark on an equally extraordinary journey; otherwise, wouldn’t he be doing a disservice to his own adventure?
Um...
Otherwise, wouldn't that mean disregarding the slap from my sister that brought me here?
Star power, star skills, star pets, alongside the narratives found online about dimensional worlds—all manner of wonders awaited Ethan to explore.
And with this body’s inner vision star map, if Ethan were to choose a conventional profession, that would be a monumental waste.
Elena observed the unusually quiet Ethan, slightly puzzled. Typically, her brother would have protested, loudly declaring that he would never become a doctor, that he would rather venture out and roam the world...
Yet, Ethan was oddly silent.
Perhaps it was due to his recent acquisition of a star skill that he had yet to fully absorb the implications of this outcome.
Elena rose and stepped toward Ethan, extending a delicate hand towards his head but paused midway.
Her fair hand hesitated, eventually retracting as she instructed, “Do not flaunt yourself, and refrain from recording those ridiculous videos. Focus on honing your star skill and absorbing star power.”
With that, Elena headed toward the kitchen doorway.
Suddenly...
A slender boy, standing at 172 cm, abruptly appeared in the kitchen entrance, blocking Elena’s path.
Elena froze momentarily, her exquisite eyes locking onto Ethan’s dark gaze, only to hear a voice that seemed to originate from the dining chair behind her.
“While I may have just awakened, I understand that awakeners are classified into categories. Those with low-quality healing skills have a higher chance of absorbing better quality healing skills,” Ethan continued.
“As for the violent output type of awakeners, no matter how gifted they may be, with superior quality or ample star slots, they are likely to remain forever distant from healing skills, as their physiques are not suited to acquire such abilities.”
Elena’s eyes widened slightly as she looked down at Ethan, slowly turning to gaze at the Ethan seated on the dining chair behind her.
An illusion!?
White Spirit Sorcerer’s second star skill: Decoy!?
Elena stared, awestruck, at Ethan. He had attained a skill trifecta!?
Such occurrences had been recorded in human history, though those lucky awakeners were exceedingly rare!
“Are you worried I’ll become too sought after?” Ethan turned to face Elena, reasoning, “You know my aptitude is not high, my star slots are pitifully few, yet I’ve happened to be a healing-type awakener.”
“Considering how scarce healing-type awakeners are, even if my abilities are lacking, I may still be recruited by some institutions, participating in relatively dangerous missions.”
Elena leaned closer, becoming serious: “At this stage, with only one star illuminated on your star map, do not reveal your second skill before outsiders.”
“Understood.” Ethan quickly nodded in agreement.
“Understood?” Elena raised an eyebrow, surprised. She had expected her brother’s response to be more self-assured and reckless; instead, he remained as obedient as ever.
“I have a condition as well,” Ethan suddenly stated.
“A condition?” Elena nodded, realizing why her brother was being so compliant; it seemed he had an ulterior motive, “Speak.”
“I will diligently train,” Ethan said, locking eyes with Elena. “Next time you venture to the snowy plains, take me with you.”
Reading the sincerity in Ethan’s expression, Elena maintained her unreadable demeanor and replied, “Why should I agree to that?”
Ethan shrugged, “In return, I can grant you a few blessings.”
Elena quickly interjected, “No, no need…”
