Pablo dismissed the meeting. I texted Sal, “Hey, what are you up to?” Continuing my drive home. Sal didn’t respond. I decided to go to his usual spots listed on his file. “Sandy’s Coffee. I haven’t heard of this one.” Talking to myself. It was 30 mins in the opposite direction. Once I arrived I saw his car. I took a photo of his car at this store. As I walked closer to the line I saw him. I quickly snapped a photo of him using the card to get coffee. “Hopefully he doesn’t recognize me.” I thought to myself. He paid for his order then walked to the pick up line. He was busy looking at his phone to notice me. Steph walked out of the bathroom. I couldn’t tell it was her from the large sunglasses covering half of her face. Her hair, makeup and clothes matched what she posted on social media. “Good to know she’s posting her location in real time.” An empty table was near. I grabbed a seat. I snapped all the photos hoping Pablo was able to use them. In an email I sent the photos to him. Sal opened the car door for Steph. He got in the car, started it up, and they held hands. I took the photo hoping to get Sal’s face in it. Pablo responded to the email, “Coffee purchase is too small. Catch Sal making bigger non business purchases.” I emailed back, “Can’t you ask him for the business card back?” Pablo responded with, “Please focus on the task. I will explain later.” I quickly got in the car ready to follow them. They didn’t notice I was following. They kept driving for a while. He parked inside a parking garage. I drove past it looking for an empty spot on the street. Shortly after they walked hand in hand towards the apartment building. I took some photos so I could remember the location. I texted my mom, “Can you see my location right now? I need you to send me the address.” “Are you ok?! Why don’t you know where you are Daisy?” I had to call her to explain. With a sigh of relief she sent me the address. I drove around the neighborhood a bit looking for free street parking or any free public parking. I quickly parked there then headed towards the apartment building. A lady greeted me. “Hi, how can I help you?” I was honest with her, “I’m looking for my boyfriend Sal. I saw him walk in here with Steph.” She looked confused. “What’s a phone number I can look up?” She types it in. “Nothing came up with that number.” I thanked her and went back to the car. I gave Sal a call. Immediately it was forwarded to voicemail. I began driving home. When I got home reality set in. I realized I was depressed without Sal coming home to me. I cried for a bit allowing all my emotions to flow. Then I had the idea to start looking around my place. “Sal had to leave something behind.” I quickly looked into all of Sal’s belongings. A journal that caught my eye fell out. Inside were earnings he had. He dated each transaction and how much it costs. I quickly snapped some photos. Flipping through the pages I found more journal entries. These were beginning chapters of Sal and Steph’s relationship. My phone rang. It was Sal. “Hey, just wanted to call you back. Is everything ok?” He sounded nervous. “Y-yeah. You said your parents were in town so I thought you were bringing them here. So I made a big dinner.” He told me I didn’t have to do that. I asked him when he was going to be home. He responded nervously, “I’m not sure yet. I’m still driving them around but I’ll let you know.” I hung up shortly after. Steph hasn’t posted anything the rest of the night. Sal’s journal entry gets more interesting. He talked about his feelings for me vs Steph. He decided to pursue Steph because of her finances. I was tempted to stop but then my eyes glanced over an entry about something being fake. I went back to it. “All of Steph’s bags are fake.” I couldn’t believe it! A wealthy influencer living the life is wearing fake products. The entries end as he’s getting deeper into her life. Sadness swept over me once again knowing that Sal was willing to use me to save what he could then leave me when it was convenient for him. I guess I won’t be doing him any favors. I’ll send him a text tomorrow about rent.
