38 “Good morning, Esther,” Dr Webster said from behind his office desk. “How does it feel to be finished all your treatment?” “Such a huge relief.” Esther hadn’t realised how much she’d missed normal life until the end of treatment. “I’m tired, but some of that is because the burn made sleep a challenge.” “It’s normal for tiredness to hang around for twelve months or more.” “Hopefully I don’t miss any more days at work. I managed not to miss any during radiotherapy.” Last week she’d had another round of blood tests and scans and today she’d come to hear the results. She’d known Dr Webster eight months, and had learned to read him fairly well. He was relaxed and cheerful, a good sign.
