“I never expected that I would have to witness such bitterness from both of them. They grew up so close as best friends and now...” Chelly’s eyes started to get moist.
Ace was shocked, too. He stood motionless without knowing what to say or how to react. He turned to face Chelly when he heard her voice. That’s when he saw the grief on Chelly’s face.
“Hey...,” Ace said and gently pulled Chelly close to him and gave her a comforting hug.
“You know how stubborn Ava is and how caring Eric is. I’m pretty sure they both will sort a way out of this misunderstanding,” Ace tried to console Chelly while gently patting on Chelly’s back.
“I badly hope so. I cannot see they are both mad at each other,” Chelly said while burying her face in Ace’s broad chest.
