CHAPTER 2

I wake up wearing a champagne-colored silk netgown with delicate lace at the neckline. But I don't remember putting this on, so I check myself, but there are no bruises, no soreness, nothing to suggest what a girl would think. He didn't touch me, at least not like that, but if he did it himself, then he definitely saw things he wasn't supposed to see. But someone changed my clothes, and I'm hoping he sent someone else to do it.. I can't remember when I slept, but I wake up to silk and smooth expensive sheets, the kind I've only seen in magazines and for one blissful second, I forget where I am. Then reality crashes down hard on me The attack, my father's betrayal and Dominic Vercetti. I stand up upright in the bedroom looking at the large vaulted ceiling. There's a walk-in closet with doors slightly open, revealing rows of clothes I didn't pack, all carrying Designer labels and in my size too.. He obviously planned this I stand and walk toward the door but it's locked and I try the windows next. Also locked, probably bulletproof. Then I see the small black domes in the corners of the ceiling, the ecurity cam A soft knock interrupts my thoughts. "Miss Monroe?" A woman with heavy Italian accent in her voice asked. "May I come in?" A woman in her fifties enters, dressed in a crisp black uniform and she carries a silver tray with fresh fruit, pastries and espresso. Sets it on a small table and tells me her name is Maria and that she'll be attending to me during my stay and yeah I'm quick to tell her I'm imprisoned here since I was abducted or kidnapped from my home yesterday. Maria's expression doesn't change. "Mr. Vercetti will see you this evening. Until then, you're to remain here." "What if I don't want to remain here?" Maria's eyes flick to the cameras, then back to me. A warning that I'm being watched. pp "I suggest you eat, Miss Monroe, because you'll need your strength." She turns to leave. "Wait." I step forward. "How long have you worked for him?" Maria pauses at the door with her hand on the frame “He has treated me well and he's like a son to me, if you don't obey he'll hurt you. Not my choice but it's the truth. When she leaves I pick the lock with my hairpin just like a friend had taught me how to do it when I was 15 so it takes me about 3 minutes. But God help me, I forget about the cameras so I get caught and bundled to meet Dominic. In his office he doesn't even speak, he looks at papers until I end the silence “Are you going to say anything or keep me standing here?” He doesn't reply, he simply calls Maria and tells her to get me prepared for the wedding. I try to protest but the old lady shoves me out. I'm forced to wear a huge gown that hides the designer heel underneath. Under normal circumstances I would have been glad to wear this but there's nothing normal about this. And not surprising for being the wife of a Mafia boss they put a short knife behind the gown, held by the ropy lace that ties both sides to my back. They probably knew I would run away if they don't place a hand on my shoulders so they escort me to the car which would take us to the church. Dominic simply throws a suit on his shoulders and sits behind me. The church is a simple building but I would still run away if the hand on my arms and shoulders wasn't firm. When we get there, the man dressed as a priest has a tattoo of a spider web on his arm and neck. No way that man is a pastor but what choice do I have. I sit beside Dominic as he holds my hands firmly with strength I wouldn't have imagined earlier, and I'm forced to listen to the fake mafia priest give a stupid speech in priest clothes that don't fit and a horse voice. We stand up and he puts a ring in my hand, but he doesn't say any vows, instead he gives me a piece of paper containing vows to recite. I know better than to protest. As soon as the vows were said, shouts came out from outside the church where the guards were stationed and soon the shouts turned to gunfire. Scared with nowhere to run to and my heart beating like an angry bird in a cage I look at Dominic as he makes his way towards and the priest already bringing out a huge gun from the wooden altar where he kept his bible. I thought Dominic is probably coming to save me but he gives me a gun to shoot, stay behind him and to stick the pointy end of the knife to anyone that comes too close. We exit through the backdoor where one of the armed men attacking us follows us from the church. Dominic wasn't even looking and having no choice but to use my instinct. I point the gun and shoot but it doesn't hit the man instead I almost fall because of the pain in my shoulders. From the recoil. Luca takes the man down and we get in the car,the men pursue but Dominic's men take them down promptly. My shoulders ache as we speed away from the church holding my head under the seats while he looks out of the windows and shoots
