I needed to get away from there as quickly as possible. Preferably before I ran into Ivan again. Because if I saw him, I knew my resolve would crumble and if I didn’t flat out confess to him what I was, I knew I wouldn’t last for long.
I’d always been a terrible liar and Ivan wasn’t an i***t. He would know something was up and he would push and bug about it until I caved. The guy hadn’t managed to kidnap me all the way to Russia without being extremely smooth about it. And yeah, he might be my Beloved, but he was also the King of Lycans (Lycans, who had a predestined mate out there somewhere). And I doubt that if push came to show, he’d stand by me and protect me from his own kind, especially if I somehow magically were able to give birth to female Lycans…
