As Candice exited via the VIP passageway, she spotted the Bentley parked up ahead. Smiling at Charlie, she said, “Mr. Clemens, you go ahead. No need to worry about me.”
Charlie glanced at her with an unreadable expression, said nothing, and walked away.
Jerry gave her a quick “See you next time,” then hurried after Charlie, opening the car door for him before getting into the front passenger seat himself.
In the car, Jim glanced through the rearview mirror at the two figures outside, his tone full of concern. “Why is Miss Hale in a wheelchair? Did her ex-husband hurt her? Would she be in danger if we left her behind like this?”
