“Jonas wasn’t trying to undermine what you said, Elizabeth.”
She was sat staring silently out of the window as Sawyer drove them back. She was still upset by what Jonas had said, even though she was already aware he hadn’t said it to hurt her. He hadn’t needed to; the fact he had to correct her was enough to be upsetting.
She would usually have brushed it off, but she was feeling increasingly desperate to truly fit in and to earn her position. It made her feel like a failure.
