Elizabeth woke up when the rays of sunlight which were breaking through the blinds on the living room window found her eyes. Sawyer was gone; both physically and in terms of her being able to recognise his scent. She panicked when she couldn’t find her phone on the floor beside her, then remembered that he had it. She still wasn’t happy about that, but she was the one who had wanted to just be normal for the day and checking her phone every five minutes would make it harder to appreciate that. She sat up, noticed that the pain in her wrist was still there – throbbing and constant now there was no adrenaline to offset it – and lay back down. There was no one to judge her for staying right there all day if that is what she really wanted. She screwed her eyes shut and pulled the covers up
