Elizabeth fought to stay awake for as long as she could, as if it would stop Sawyer from leaving her alone if she stayed awake long enough. She was right; he could not have left her alone there if she asked him seriously to let her go, and he was waiting for her to fall asleep so he could leave without having to try to turn her down. They hadn’t been apart as long as they would be now since she first invited him back to her home. It was instinctive for him to feel that way, and there weren’t many others of his kind who could have walked away from the person they shared that bond with knowing they would not see each other for so long when there wasn’t a life or death reason for it. He only managed to leave in the end when he reminded himself logically that it was to avoid it becoming one;
