Chapter 3.

My hair had been tampered with by my mother and Mandy for almost an hour before I realized how much time had passed. My mother loved me so much and she gave me the kind of upbringing she wanted me to have, but to me that was ridiculous, nobody can be perfect. In the aftermath of their departure, I exhaled a sigh of relief. To be sure and to make sure I was right, I asked, "May I look at it now?" My mother nodded and I smiled when she agreed. A strand of my hair fell to the floor as I looked in the mirror, they had put it up in a neat curling bun, but my hair was floppy and some had fallen out. I couldn't have been happier with the way it looked with the dress and I could not have been more pleased with it. My mother and Mandy were exclaiming the same thing to me, causing a slight blush to appear on my face as they gushed about my beauty. As I turned and murmured a little thanks, I stood up. My mother was beside me as we both stopped at the double doors leading into the room that had been forbidden for me to even enter after I said, "Let's get this party going!" As I clapped my hands and departed the room. The women walked into the room with a smile on their faces as my mother led the way. As an understatement, I would say I was quite surprised by what happened. Everything was beautifully done by my father, he had gone the extra mile. My dress had been perfectly matched to the lighting, colors, and everything else about the scene. At the time, I was still taking everything in when my father's booming voice caught everyone's attention in the room. As well as my own attention, I was also taking everything in at the time. My father paused and took hold of my arm as she led me to his side as she explained, "Tonight we will celebrate the eighteenth birthday of my only child, your future queen, Luna." As I stood up in front of all of those people, I was slightly nervous, but I was also excited at the possibility of finally finding that special someone. "Treat my daughter with respect, as you have done to me over the past years. I've raised my daughter well, and I have no doubt that she will lead you all into a better place. Those of you who know her know that she's sweet, caring, generous, and strong willed. All of these combined make's you a perfect queen. There are not enough words to describe how proud I am of her as a woman today, and I am eagerly anticipating what more she will grow into in the coming years." My father turns to me, arms wide open, and smiles, "happy birthday, baby girl." A few tears formed in my eyes after I heard my father's speech, so I quickly pulled back and stood in the embrace of my father and sighed, "thank you so much, daddy." Once my father released me, he returned to the crowd and wished everyone a good time. In just a few seconds, I descended the stage and began interacting with the guests as I walked around. Although it was my birthday, I had a responsibility to make sure that my guests were happy as I was the future queen, and to let them know that I acknowledge them, even though it was my birthday. The whole thing was going so smoothly, and I was just about to see my cake when all of a sudden, it seemed as if things had happened at a snail's pace. All of the people in the castle were running in panic and screamed in terror after rogues had broken in. As my father tried to assist me in restraining what was happening, I could hear him trying to help us. While I stood frozen, the memories of the past crashed down on me like a twenty ton weight as guards appeared and shifted, attacking the rouges while I stood frozen, frozen by memories of the past. In front of me crouched a dirty brown wolf that smelt like it hadn't bathed in months, I watched as the rouge advanced against me slowly. My attention was drawn to the rouge as it slowly approached me, and I watched in horror as it crouched low in front of me as it approached. There was nothing that I could find that I could use for a weapon and I looked around for anything that I could use as one. It was only then that I heard an intense bark from the side of me, my attention snapped to the side of me and my heart began to race as I saw my mother in wolf form moving forward toward me. My mother, please don't!" I shouted in warning to the rouge as she crouched down and snarled at him in an attempt to warn him. As I grabbed hold of her scruff of the neck, trying to keep her safe, I grabbed hold of the scruff of her neck hoping to keep her with me, but when the rouge lunged forward, I could feel that my mother's strength was greater than I thought. The only time I was able to hold on for a second to her lunge was before I found myself lying sideways on the floor as she landed. My mother suddenly turned around and was battling the rouge with ease. I was surprised by what I saw and realized that my eyes probably looked like saucers as I watched her. My mother has never fought before, and I have no idea how many mean bones she carries around in her body until now, as I have never seen her fight before. Aspen suddenly appeared by my side as I struggled to figure out how to help by standing up and trying to think of a way to help. My mother needs your help! Aspen, thank you so much! I screamed over all the growling, snarling, and yelling in the room for him to hear me over all the growls, snarls, and screams. The eye of Aspen turned from my mother to mine after a brief glance towards my mother. As he suddenly grabbed hold of me and lifted me over his shoulder, I was able to notice the sadness and regret in his eyes. I gasped in surprise and when he began to walk away from my mother I began to kick and punch his back as I screamed. "It's not OK, Aspen! What are you doing over there? What are you doing? I turned back around when I heard a whimper from below me, and I saw my mother laying on the ground, staring at me. There was a fight between my mother and I, and honestly, up until this point I was unaware of how mean this woman could be. When Aspen suddenly appeared at my side and tried to figure out how to help me, I stood up and tried to figure out how I could help. I screamed so loudly that he could hear me over all of the growls, snarls, and screaming that was going on in the room to, "Oh! Aspen! Thank goddess! You have to help my mother!" I said. A glance was taken by Aspen directed towards my mother, then he turned his gaze towards me for a brief moment. After grabbing hold of me and lifting me over his shoulder, I could not help but notice the sadness and regret in his eyes. The moment he began walking away from my mother, I began to kick and punch his back as I screamed in surprise and he began to walk away from my mother, I gasped in surprise. My mother laying on the ground, staring at me with her eyelids drooping, cried "NO! ASPEN WHAT ARE YOU DOING?" I looked up as I heard her whimper and saw her lying on the ground. As much as I love you, Luna, I will always be there for you. Take care of yourself and stay safe. "MOM! MOM! Aspen, please save her! We can't let her go if we leave her here!! PLEASE!!!" In my head I heard my mother tell her goodbye shakily, and I yelled and struggled more, "MOM! MOM!" I screamed but he took off. It was as if I witnessed the rouge standing over my mother and ripping out the throat of my mother while I watched him. My last glimpse of it was just moments before the darkness had taken over and engulfed me.
