13 Pitt The night we watched the meteor shower, I’d been certain Kaylee was going to kiss me. She’d acted so differently. She didn’t joke around or play any pranks. It was like I was hanging out with a different person than the fun, sweet girl I’d gotten to know. Finally, I’d asked her if she was sick or something, and she only shook her head and told me she should get going. The following week, she hadn’t acted much like herself either. And any time she did start acting like herself, she’d shut it down quickly and get quiet. I didn’t like that she seemed to be pulling away from me, so I was on my way to her bar to talk to her about things.
