10. This is going to be fun

1100 Words
BECKY POV I hate myself for turning into a stereotype when that Samsonite man called me yesterday. Not all Latina women are temperamental and go off on people randomly. My mother is more of a silent killer, she will smile and nod while plotting your demise. I just couldn’t help it. I’ve been avoiding the baby elephant in the room. No matter if and when I decide to tell the daddy or my family, I haven’t really given much thought to the actual baby. How it’s going to grow inside of me and eventually come out. Very painfully. Then the real fun starts. It’s easier to focus on anything and everything else that’s causing me issues and ignore the tiny and not physically present being that’s much more complicated. I wanted to spend a day not thinking about anything, nothing at all. Just when I was starting to feel relaxed, and like everything would fall into place on it’s own accord, that asshole had to come around and push me over the edge. Literally! My poor brother is a law-abiding citizen that, although would defend me with his life, would definitely not come kill him. I went stupid with rage, that’s the only way I can explain it. After I got off the phone, I decided the hot shower I took this morning wasn’t going to cut it. I have two photo shoots tomorrow and I need a nice long bath to help me relax. Laying in the tub filled with bubbles, I nearly fell asleep. At this point, I’ve been lying in my bathtub far too long and the water is starting to get cold. One last deep breath and I prepared myself to face the real world. This bathtub can’t shield me forever. Unless I can figure out how to keep the water warm in here. I start to dry my body and hair when I hear a small noise coming from outside of the bedroom. It sounded like the front door closing, it always makes a squeaking noise. Did Matt forget something else? I quickly got dressed and cautiously opened my bedroom door and poked my head out. I can’t see anything unless I exit my room and walk down the hallway. “Hello! Is someone here?” Crap! I sound like that person in the movies that always gets killed first. When I don’t hear a reply, I decide I’m not taking any chances and crawl out of my bedroom window. Walking around the house, I start to feel like an i***t when I don’t see anyone inside when I peek through the windows. I also curse myself for not bringing my phone. It’s so dark outside that I’m starting to fear being out here more than if I would have stayed in my room. I can barely see anything out here. “You made this easier than I expected.” A gruff voice says from behind me. I turned around and gasped when a huge shadowy figure started to move towards me. I turn to run and I’m about to scream bloody murder when his arms are quickly around me, one on my waist, trapping one of my arms, and the other over my mouth. Using my free hand, I tried to push his hand even closer against my mouth and bite him, hoping he would let go. He growled like a damn animal and threw me to the side towards the outside wall of the house. My head hit the wall, I only saw a glimpse of his face before I fell to the ground and my mind gave way to darkness. ~~~~~~~ I groaned and tried to open my eyes. The pain in my head was making it nearly impossible to keep them open with the bright light hanging overhead. My shoulders and arms were killing me, they were tied to a hook on the ceiling and my toes barely touched the floor. As soon as the situation I found myself in registered, my mind was spining. Who did I piss off? Why am I strung up like roast duck? I quickly decided that finding those answers could wait until I find a way to free myself. The problem was I had no strength left in my arms to pull myself up. The door burst open and in walked the last face I remember seeing before I passed out. I have no clue who he is, but he didn’t bother hiding the menacing look in his eyes and the evil grin. “I’m surprised your mate didn’t think to keep you by his side. It’s dangerous for a human around here.” He jeered and stepped closer. He sniffed my neck and looked confused. Suddenly, he looked down at my stomach and smiled. There was no way he could know I was pregnant. I was barely six weeks. He took two steps back and scratched his chin. “Not marked… with his pup in your belly.” He said more to himself than to me. I wanted him to keep talking so that I could figure out why I was even here. There had to be a mistake. He kept looking at me, so I took advantage and studied his face. Had I ever since him before? He’s just as big as all of the forest dwellers. Could he be one of them? Was this about that complaint I made about Ranger Brand? Would he do something this excessive though… that can’t be it. Even though I knew I should stay quiet and wait to see what he wanted, I was frustrated and in too much pain. “I have no idea what you’re talking about. I’m not who you think I am. You must have the wrong person, let me go!” I yelled while glaring at him. He only smiled in amusement. Nothing he had said made any sense! Mate? Marked? If my head didn’t hurt before, it was throbbing now. Why did he call my baby a pup and how did he even know I was pregnant? No one knew, except Letty and the doctor. “This is going to be fun.” He wiggled his eyebrows at me. He was so fast, inhumanly fast. In mere seconds, he was in front of me and his fist went flying and connected with my cheek. There was a flash of white light, followed by a pain that was so intense that I could feel myself slipping away into the welcoming darkness once more. The last thing I heard was his laughter.
