The room went still as if the air itself had been pulled tight and stretched to the edge of snapping. Lorenzo didn’t move, blink or even react. “You’re lying,” he said finally, his tinged with cold certainty. Marco simply gave a cold, knowing smile. “You see… That’s the problem with truth,” he said calmly. “It always sounds like a lie especially when you hear it too late.” Sofia stepped forward again, her grip tightening slightly on the tablet. “Enough if your stupid games,” she snapped. “You’re not walking out of here alive, so you better start talking.” Marco didn’t even look at her, his eyes stayed locked on Lorenzo because this was between them. “Ask yourself something,” Marco continued. “If your rise was so clean… so rightful… Why did so many people disappear along the way?”
