One month later
Mackenzie refused to look at or talk to me for over three weeks. Eli’s birthday party was last week, and that girl would walk a wide path around the yard, and if I was in the house, she would stay as far away from me as possible. I took James’ advice and tried to speak to her every time I went over for a visit and even invited her to join us every Saturday, but she held her ground. Mia got me the pictures she told me she would, and I put them all in frames before enlisting Eli’s help in hanging them in hopes of having him report the decorating to Kenzie. I’m not sure if he did tell her or not, but at least they are up now, and I have photos of all three of my kids in my house, displayed proudly as I should have all along.
