As I look at him, hearing his words, a cold anger fills me.
“Are you really threatening to use my family against me?” I sneer. “The same ones who sold me off to you, knowing what you had in store for me?”
Even as his words have horrified me, this is my last-ditch attempt at protecting them. They may have done wrong by me, and they may have stabbed a knife in my back, but it doesn’t mean I want them to suffer. Under the hurt and betrayal, there is still love. I hate myself for it, but I can’t stop how I feel.
Jason’s eyes narrow, “We’ll see if you’re singing the same tune when I rip them apart in front of you.”
