Chapter 4

~ Lyra ~ I woke up to a small room and a bed with a golden-brown bedsheet placed on it. Am I kidn*pped? I came down from the bed and rushed to the door, I was opened. I sighed in relief. I walked out from the room and followed the passageway from the corridor to the stairs. Under the stairs was the tavern parlor, it was empty this time except for the owners who were an elderly couple cleaning the place and setting it up. "Hello. You are awaked," the lady said with smile on her face. "How was your night?" "It was fine." I head felt light, I hissed and rubbed my palms on my forehead. "I apologize for acting drunk and wasted in your bar." "Don't worry. There is no need apologizing for that, we know you were in pains and we were happy to help you," the man said. "Thank you so much. I will be going now." "Oh, won't you wait a little to eat? The food is on the fire, in few minutes it will be ready," the wife said. "I'm okay, I will eat at home where I'm going. I'm so grateful for the kindness you had shown me." "It's alright, we are happy to be of help. You know, our daughter do come over once in a while, and we miss having her around. Seeing you step into this tavern reminded us of her, and were moved to help you," the man said. The wife came in, "But are sure you are okay? Because you didn't look good when you came here yesterday." "It's all fine now. There is absolutely nothing to worry about, and like I said, I am very grateful for your kindness, thank you so much." I reached to the woman and gave her a warm hug, and went to do the same to the man. "See you guys later!" I waved and moved to leave when the woman said I shouted wait. "Pardon me, my dear, we didn't get to know your name." "I am Lyra." "Lyra, such a nice name for a beautiful lady like you. Please, Lyra if you need anything we are here to help, Okay? You don't need to be broken alone, come to us if you need anyone to talk to." I smiled, for the first time someone had told me they will be there for me. But I'm just knowing them for the first time, these couple are one of a kind. "Yes, I will," I smiled as I left. I got to the gate and the guard stood on my way, they wouldn't let me get through. "What's going on? Why are you guys standing on my way?" "We were given the order by the alpha king not to let get you in." "Why? What's the problem? I don't understand what you guys are talking about." "Don't try getting through. We won't hold back from throwing you out." This was unbelievable. Why would Julian do this to me? "Your belonging are all here," a guard said as he came out with a very large bag, and dropped it at my feet. I reached out to the bag and opened it up slowly. Inside it were my clothes, my shoes, my jewelries and other things that looked important, although some other things were missing. "I need to go get some things, please...” I said as I moved close but the guard blocked my way. "There are some of my things in there!" "No! You are not getting in. Leave here at once, or we'll lock you up in the dungeon. You are no longer the alpha's bride to be, you are just a common Omega. So don't test me," the chief guard said glaring at me. I moved back slowly, and picked up the heavy bag. I bend my face down as I moved out to the street I didn't know where I was going but I have to leave to avoid any problem. I didn't know where to go, I sat on a pavement by the side of the store. This was the second time in my life I had felt the most depressed, the first was when my father died. I felt cold from inside me, my feet were too heavy to move, tears rolled down my eyes and I tried as much as I could not to cry out. I've lost everything I had. Why would Julian do this to me? Was it because I am an Omega? Why will the moon goddess treat me this way? Give me something good and snatch it out from me at the wrong time. Could the moon goddess be this cruel? I sat there for hours not knowing where to go. I was still dressed in the same gown I wore to alpha Julian's coronation. I had no one in my mind that I could run to. I have no father, no mother, no friends, and no siblings. My mother died when I was born, and because I lived all my life in the castle I didn't have time to make friends outside the castle. Everyone in the castle looked me with envious eyes, while others were not concerned about my well-being. The only person that cared about me and treated me a nicely was Madam Lois, but too bad that she lives in the castle. I felt hopeless, I looked up to the sky for some minutes and wished my parents were alive. I wished I wasn't sent to the castle. I wished I was left at home to relate with other Omegas and live a simple, and a happy life. I wished that was how my life went. I rested my head on my knees, and I raised my head up quickly. Darn! "The tavern!" They were kind to me last night, I think they will be the most preferred persons to meet in a time like this. I paused and turned to my bag. It would be embarrassing going to a tavern with a huge, loaded bag just after receiving a help. No! That won't be a good idea. Yet I looked around and I didn't have any other ideas left. As much as I was so ashamed of going back to the tavern to ask for help, I honestly won't sleep here in the street. I have heard stories of how people were robbed in the night, and ladies r***d, most especially Omegas. I swallowed my shame and took the bag all the way to the tavern. When I got close to the premises, I moved to the side of the building and dropped it behind. I went to the door, I heard people talking, drinking and eating. I took in a deep breath and let it out before I stepped in. I stood few inches away from door looking around, it was just few hours I left and the whole place that were empty, but now the benches were filled up with people. "Hey! Lyra!" The man in charge of the place called out. He walked up to his wife and whispered to her. The wife was standing before a younger lady, who looked a bit older than me, both of them turned to my direction. The wife waved at me and beckoned I come closer to them. I moved to them and forced a smile. "Good day." "Good day, Lyra. We were not expecting you, but we are so happy you are here. This is our daughter, Tina. The one we told you about." "Tina, this is Lyra." The younger lady smiled at me, "Hello. My parents told me about you, thank goodness you were not hurt." Hurt? Oh! The rascals of last night, I could only remember a little. "Yeah, I was so drunk that I didn't know what was happening around me. Thanks to your parents who came to my aid. I wouldn't have known what those men would have done to me." "It's okay. We are sure that whoever enters this tavern, especially for young ladies like you, we won't let any good-for-nothing alpha lay an abusive hand on you," Tina said. "Lyra, how are you doing? You don't look okay, what's the problem?" The woman asked. I bowed down my face, I didn't know where to start from. I held my finger together and said slowly in a low, soft voice. "I was kicked out of my home." "I don't have a place to stay that is why I am here. I need your help, please." The woman and her daughter was silent. They stared at me, and I am couldn't discern what those look meant.
