I walked into the kitchen with the head chef. As soon as the maids noticed we walked in, they took their hands off whatever they were doing and turned to us.
"Good evening, Madam Lois," they chorused and bowed their head.
"Good evening, everyone," Madam Lois replied immediately as the maids raised their head. "I believe you all are ready for the ceremony tomorrow. The cakes, meats, and every recipe you know of should be ready before the midday tomorrow. It will be a hefty task, because we are going to be entertaining a lot of guest."
"Pardon me, Madam Lois, may I ask a question, please?" a maid asked.
"Go ahead, Nadia."
"If we are going to end the cooking by tomorrow afternoon, when are we going to start preparing?"
"Starting the preparing from dusk will be advisable," I said, and Madam Lois nodded.
Nadia stared at me contemptuously, I could read her eyes, and it was the same with everyone. It made me dull from the inside, I brought my eyes down to my feet and I wished I didn't agree to join Madam Lois.
Nadia looked away from my direction and turned back to Madam Lois. "Madam, please when do you think we should start?"
"On dusk like Lyra had said."
"Is she joining in to cook with us? Because I've been wondering what her role in this castle is all these while," another maid said.
"Will you all shut up!" The maids quivered at the tone of Madam Lois's voice. "Have you forgotten that this is the betrothed to your alpha?"
One of the maids wanted to respond but another maid gave her a look that bore a furrowed, bulging eyes. I knew what the maid wanted to say, that I am an Omega – the exact reason why no one in the castle treat me with a single respect, despite I was betrothed to the alpha.
"We are starting with the meats, then the cakes, and by tomorrow morning we go into the other dishes," Madam Lois said. "Lyra will be supervising with me, and I don't want to hear any complain. Is that clear?"
The maid went back to their duties and Madam Lois went to the store room. I left the kitchen quietly and walked up the stairs to my room. The moment I got in and sat down on the bed.
I gazed at the window, my mind leafed through my past like pages of a voluminous graphic novel. My father brought me to the castle when I was eleven, he told me he was making a future for me. That I will be the Luna to the Alpha's son, and the next Alpha king of Silverland.
My early days in the castle I was treated properly, the alpha king made me eat with him and his family on the royal dining table. Before me, I have never heard of an Omega with such privilege. I was treated like a princess, those who didn't know me before I was taken to the castle would think I was the alpha's daughter. That treated only lasted when my father was alive.
Two years after his death from a severe incurables illness, things changed immediately. The warm gesture I usually received ended. The alpha king, Augustus only allowed me stay in the castle because of the oath he swore with my father, he never cared if I was treated well or not. Julian, his son, who I was engaged to had never treated me with care from the beginning.
The thought of being an Omega came again to haunt me. Not only that, it was also clear that Julian didn't about me that much to make me his mate. Many times I had been around him, and there had not been a single moment where he looked at me with eyes of affection. I could barely recall the time we spent quality time together.
I sniffed, my sight quivered and my eyes were moistened with emerging tears as I thought of my father. I remembered what he always say to me.
"Don't think you are less of a werewolf because you are an Omega. You may not be physically strong, but you can be smart and mentally stronger if you want to."
A surge of positive energy ran through me, the memory of my father's word crumbled the gloomy feeling in me. I am still betrothed to Alpha Julian Blackstone, who will be the alpha king of Silverland by dusk tomorrow.
I remembered a word my father once said to me before his death. "Don't always wait for things to come to you as an Omega. Whatever you want to get, as far as it is good, do everything you can get it. That is how to succeed as an Omega."
If I will be his mate, there had to be a connection between us. I wouldn't wait for Julian to show his feeling to me.
As I gazed at the roof I could see myself before him in a transparent linen gown, moving slowly towards his bed where he laid on as his hungry eyes stared at me. He is an alpha, but still a man, and I have to do whatever a woman had to do to get her man.
I stood up from the bed and rushed into to take a bath. I sprayed a new perfume, carrying the rich smell of rose and lavender. I applied some smooth makeup on my face and put on a slightly, body-fitted gown that exposed my entire curve. I gathered my hair and tied them on the top back of my hair to let the end flow into a long, straight ponytail.
It was getting darker, I had spent a lot of them in my room. I stepped out from my room and headed towards Julian's master room. I was expecting him not to be there, I wanted to give myself to him as a surprise package.
My heart raced, my breath sounded audibly. I got there and stood before the door, my mind was blocked from my surrounding, and all that was in my mind was the anticipation of winning Julian to myself.
I raised my arm slowly, curled my finger and pointed my knuckles to the door. I knocked at the door thrice, not that I was listening to anything. I grabbed the doorknob and opened the door.
I walked in immediately and I was frozen to the sight and sound that brought my mind to what was happening in the room. Julian was stack naked on top of a lady, making out passionately, as her moaning overshadowed his.
It felt like a glass violently shattered inside my chest, I stood still watching as he quickly pulled away from her and covered his lower parts with the bedsheet. I saw the woman's face, she was Nadia the maid who gave a contemptuous look in the kitchen.
Julian surprised look changed into a scowled red face. "You filthy wench!"
