Adam I winced when the gun went off. And in the split second when the bullet should have struck me dead, I heard the bullet hit something metallic. A sword clattered to the ground before me. When my scattered brain was able to focus enough, I zeroed in on the very naked form of Jadea standing at the garage door entrance, chest heaving. There was no mistaking her white pixie cut hair, or her very familiar silhouette. Or the deep, angry gashes along the right side of her back and shoulder, and the two deep knife wounds to her ribs. They were partially sown, as if they had been ripped apart by movement and were oozing blood, leaving little red rivers down her skin. I fought the flashbacks that wanted to bombard my mind, that wanted to drag me even further under. My brain was so jumbled,
