Chapter 19

Sakshi

Today I have a really important meeting and I hope God will spare me today from all the drama. Oh god it's already 8. I am late. Wow-what a fantastic way to start your day, Sakshi. I ran downstairs towards the main door.

"Sakshi, where are you running to" called the sweetest voice in the world.

"I am already late, mum, please don't force me to have breakfast," I said everything in a breath.

"You know me beta (child), I can't have you running on an empty stomach to your office." She said while already making a plate for me. She came towards the main door and hand-feed me my breakfast. I always fuss about it, but secretly I love it when she does this kind of stuff. But I'll never tell her that. It will only make her overdo things.

I reached my office in ten minutes and sprinted to my office. Placing my handbag on my desk, I called my secretary for the updates on the meeting.

"When will they reach here?" I asked my secretary.

"In ten minutes, mam," she replied.

"Hmm. Okay! Can you bring my blue folder which contains aroma details? It is placed in the lower cabinet on the left." I asked her while rechecking everything for the presentation.

"Yes, mam. Anything else, Mam?" she asked politely.

"No, thank you! You can leave now. When they come, escort them to the conference room and be ready with the PPT. I will be there in 5 minutes." She left after closing the door behind her softly. After looking at the details of the project last time, I left for the conference room. We finally got the deal. It was a hectic meeting.

"Kirti, let's go to a party tonight. We deserve a break after this much hard work" I said, with a winning smile.

"Why not, but not today? I already have plans for tonight. Sorry" she said while blushing.

"Hm. It seems like someone has a date tonight. Huh?

"It's not like that" she blushes some more. Interesting.

"Is it that serious that you are blushing like a tomato just thinking about him? Who is he? Do I know him?" Now I am curious.

''Nothing like that, and no you don't know him. He lives in my building. His name is Aakash and he is a software engineer. And I will introduce you to him later. Now let's go back to work.'' she splashed water on my plans. And left for her desk.

There goes my plan to celebrate. Let's go back to work then. My whole day at the office remained uneventful, for which I was really grateful. When I reached home, the maids were getting the table ready for dinner. I made my way to my room and freshened up and changed into decent pajamas and a T-shirt. Then I moved downstairs to have dinner with my family. During dinner, I was discussing today's deal with dad when mom interrupted us.

''Today Meena called and asked about the preparations for the engagement party'' I froze. And looked at her waiting for her to continue.

''I told her it's only been a day since the announcement and we haven't called our relatives yet. We chit-chatted some more. During which she asked if she could come shopping with us. As it will be easy for us to choose the engagement ring as per Armaan's choice and she wanted to see your dress beforehand. So I said yes. Will it be okay with you Sakshi?'' mom asked me.

Well, what did she expect me to say it's not like my denial matters at this point as she already said yes. So I said what she wanted to hear.

''I am okay with this mom'' because as it is, I won't have to face Armaan if his mom comes to choose the engagement ring, so it's quite beneficial for me.
