Lyena turned around, as she heard a knock on the door. “Come in!” she said. The door opened and Adrian peeked his head in, before entering. Lyena let out a giggle at his behavior. “Why are you acting like you’re up to something?”
“No, I’m not. Who knows if you are hiding to attack me like the other time?”
“Oh come on Adrian! It was just a mistake. I was scared, and I didn’t know you at that time”
“That doesn’t justify the fact that you nearly broke my neck. Wait…., does that mean that you aren’t afraid of me now?” Adrian asked.
“No, because now I know you”
“You sure about that?” Adrian asked, stepping a little too close to Lyena, a teasing smile dancing on his lips. Lyena frowned as she took a step back. “I can still break your neck, you know?” she asked as a warning.
Adrian’s smile dropped as he realized this round was won by Lyena. “Well, maybe you can TRY to, but you would NEVER be able to hurt someone as handsome as me” he tried to recover from Lyena’s remark. But Lyena knew that she had scored one, and she couldn’t help but try to pull his leg more. “Whatever helps you sleep Adrian, whatever helps you sleep” she said as she shook her head.
Adrian huffed. ‘It’s better to drop the subject’ he thought. “I came to call you for dinner” he said. Lyena smiled. “Well, let’s get going then”
When they went down, they saw that Noah, Ryan and James were at the table. The maids were serving food. As Adrian sat down, he motioned Lyena to sit beside him. As she sat down, James, who was sitting in front of her, smiled in greeting. Noah and Ryan ate quietly after nodding at her and Adrian. A silent duo they were. They seemed to be always working. Lyena would have thought they were workaholics if she didn't see them coming out of their rooms to spend time with others; not with her, of course. They seemed a little restricted with her. But, they didn't treat her badly. Unlike them, Adrian had a little outgoing nature. Though he kept a distance from her for two or three days since she came there, he turned out to be a social butterfly, a hidden nature of a so-called "mafia".
And that spares the one and only James Balvig! Don't even get Lyena started! He had been a nuisance from the second day of her staying there. Always bothering her by "paying her visits", he just annoys her talking nonsense. There were times that she wished that she could punch him in the face.
