Chapter 33

901 Words
HAYDEN POV “The name, is Avelyn.” I tell James, and I’m taken aback by his surprised face. I frown. ‘How can this girl be a threat to James’ girlfriend?’ James takes a step forward. “D-Do you know anything about her?” He asks, and I can hear the slight tremble in his voice. “No, I don’t.” “Thank you Hayden.” James gives a nod. “I’ll be going now.” I watch as James and his bodyguards leave the hall. A sigh comes out as I hear the sound of the cars becoming distant. The girl is not someone to be taken lightly. I need to ask my brother about her. …….. “Why did you call me?” Jayden asks, plopping himself down on the couch in front of me. I watch as he proceeds to lay down on it, taking his legs up. “You’re not placing those dirty shoes on my couch,” I warn him, only to receive a smug smile from him. I shake my head as he rolls to his side, and places the sides of his shoes on the couch. ‘Little brat. Always trying to get on my nerves!’ “So?” Jayden raises his eyebrows. “About Avelyn,” I see him getting tense a bit, “…care to tell me?” James sighs. “I saw this coming.” He sits up properly, and looks at me. “She is my friend, of course, you don’t have to worry about it. We came in search of her sister.” “Her sister?” “Yes,…Lyena- James’ girlfriend.” “Hmm…he asked about her.” Jayden frowned. “What? What did the asshole ask?” A soft chuckle escapes my lips. He really seems to dislike James. “Her name, and anything I know about her.” I shrug, looking away. “So you told him?” He asks, with a ‘totally done face’. “Yeah, why wouldn’t I?” “What did you tell him?” “Just her name, you i***t! I didn’t know anything else.” Jayden sighs. “Don’t tell him anything about her.” Anger is obvious in his voice. “Why? What’s the matter?” He shakes his head. “I can’t tell you. It’s Avelyn’s problem. I roll my eyes. “Of course. But I want to know why your partner tried to seduce James that day.” Jayden facepalms himself. “She just wanted to test James.” I laugh at that. “By seducing him?” I ask, amused. Jayden shrugs. “Who knows what was running in her mind! Maybe she wanted to see whether he truly likes Lyena or not.” I nod my head several times. “That should be right. Afterall, Avelyn is an attractive woman.” “Yes.” Jayden nods a few times, and after a pause, he looks up with a glint that I know which isn’t too good, in his eyes. “I saw you looking at her several times,” Jayden says, wiggling his eyebrows. “Huh?” I come out of my thoughts about Avelyn, “no, I was just… observing her.” And I regret my words, as soon as I see the smirk forming on Jayden’s face. “Well, well, well! Someone is interested in Avelyn!” I scoff at him. “Nah, she is attractive, of course. But I’m not going to go further than what I’ve already come. She doesn’t seem like a girl to play with.” Jayden rolls his eyes. “I don’t want you to PLAY with her!” He pronounces the word ‘play’ with a scoff. “And you’re right. She isn’t someone to be taken easily.” “Why? Is she some sort of a goddess?” Jayden shakes his head. “Not a goddess. Not at all. Maybe the opposite.” “Hmm? What do you mean by that?” Jayden lets out a sigh. “I can’t tell you Hayden. All I can say is, it’s better if you don’t dig for her information. Keep your distance from her if you have bad intentions for her.” I roll my eyes. “Why are you trying to protect her so much? And you’re making me sound like a maniacal p*****t who takes others as toys.” “I just don’t want you to harm her. I know what you’re like when you’ve set your eyes on someone. She is my friend, and you’re my brother. I don’t want to lose any of you. So stay within the limits!” “Limits are to be broken.” “But not this time.” Jayden glares at me. I know that I have made him angry, but it’s always fun to annoy your siblings. Better stop this before he takes this seriously. “I won’t do anything, don’t worry. But, seeing that you’re getting all worked up in this, makes me wonder who she is. How did she become your friend?” I ask, frowning. I don’t remember someone called Avelyn. “You don’t know her. You were abroad when I met her. She was our neighbor back then.” I rake out my brain for a memory. “Aaah! Is she the girl you always hung out with?” “Yeah, it’s her.”
