Avelyn's eyes didn't waver. "Jayden is providing me enough protection, I think. Anyways, thank you for your concern." She got up from the sofa, and turned towards her room. "If you're done, the door is that way!"
"Actually, you're under MY protection, Avelyn." Hayden's words stopped Avelyn on her track. She turned to him, arms crossed. "Do you really think that I'll believe you?"
But her words didn't wipe away the smug smile on Hayden's face. He got up, and pushed his hands inside the pockets of his trouser. With slow steps, he made his way towards Avelyn, and stopped just in front of her. Avelyn felt like a dwarf, even though her height was a bit higher than normal.
