Come Closer

Chapter 11

James drew breath to oppose but stopped as he felt Noah’s hand grabbed his arm. “We can take her with us. There’s less security here when we all leave her behind. And, you know what would happen if our enemies got to know about her” Noah whispered the last part in James’s ear. James nodded his understanding and turned to Lyena. “Come, let’s go” He said and walked out of the house.

It took almost a half an hour to reach the hospital. Everyone was worried in the car. James quickly parked the car and ran to the hospital with others. “How is Adrian now?” He asked as soon as he saw Ryan sitting on a chair. “They took him to a surgery as soon as we arrived here. He is still in the surgery room.” Ryan said in a worried tone.

James sighed and sunk onto a chair beside Ryan. “What happened at the factory?” He asked.

“We were just inspecting there as usual. After an hour or so, we heard some gunshots and we ran to the main gate to see what was happening. We saw some men in black were shooting at our men and we started to fire back at them. Adrian was shot when we were fighting with them. And we brought him here and Noah went to tell you the news. We suspected that you might be in trouble.” Ryan explained the whole incident.

Just then, a doctor came out of the surgery room. As soon as they saw him, they all got up and went to him. “How is he, doctor?” Noah asked.

“There’s no serious damage. Don’t worry. He can be discharged after two days. Meet me in my office, come” He said and walked towards his office.

“Ryan, come with me. Noah, you stay here with Lyena and make sure Adrian is OK” James said and walked with Ryan to the doctor’s office.

“Will he be alright?” Lyena asked Noah as they sat on the chairs again. “I hope so.” Noah said with a sigh.

“Are you OK? You too have some injuries.” Lyena said as she saw the blood stains on Noah’s shirt.

“There are just some scratches, nothing to worry about. I’ll just put some medicine in them when we get home.” He said and smiled at Lyena. They stayed in silence until the door opened from the surgery room. A nurse came out and said “we are moving him to his room. You can meet him there”. Noah and Lyena nodded.

Adrian was awake in the hospital room and Lyena and Noah were sitting beside his bed. “Does it hurt?” Lyena asked. “Not much” Adrian gave her a smile. His eyebrows felt heavy and he yawned. “You should rest now, we will meet you later” Noah said and then he went out with Lyena.

(Meanwhile at doctor’s office)

“Please have a seat” The doctor said. Ryan and James sat and then James asked, “is he alright doctor?”

The doctor smiled. “Yes, he didn’t have any serious damage. I told you to come here to explain his condition to you. As he has been shot in the shoulder, he will have to be careful when using his arm. He will have to wear a band aid for some days, and with proper exercises, his arm will be alright as normal. We’ll give him some medicine to make the wound heal and, you have to make sure he takes his medicine properly. Don’t let him use his arm for a week. If not, it could cause serious damage. You have to come here for inspection after the first week.”

“Thank you doctor” said Ryan and he went out with James.
