He crouched in front of Avelyn, who was sitting on the floor. “Sweetheart, do you remember…,” he leaned closer and whispered, “Keran?”
Avelyn’s eyes turned wide. Keran was the spy that they found at Jayden’s place. Avelyn, Jayden and Nathan never caught Keran but never got to know about who he works for. Keran took his own life in their cells. Now she realized that this man, the man who was addressed as ‘Master’ by Keran, had been after her for a very long time. “Tell me your name,” she glared at him.
The man laughed. “You really wanna know?” He pouted dramatically. “It’s Kaden.”
He straightened up from his crouched position. “Do you know for how long I’ve searched for you? You hid very well, but you wouldn’t escape from me.”
“How did you find me?” Avelyn asked.
Kaden chuckled at that. “Hmm…Since you ask, I’ll tell you my little secret. You’re going to die anyway.” He shrugged. “Would you like to listen to the full story?” He probed, as if he was asking something from a child.
Avelyn couldn’t help but raise one eyebrow. “Amuse me.”
He started the story, stepping around her. “You know Jayden, don’t you?” He turned his head slightly towards her.
“Of course,” She replied with a nod.
“My first plan was to bring Hayden down. That man thinks that he holds the power in these cities. He’s a terrible headache, you know?” He spread his hands. “And Jayden is not only his brother. He is the biggest supporter of Hayden. I sneaked Keran into Jayden’s gang to get information. And you know what? Luck was at my side when I found you by accident!” He sniggered.
“Being The Ghost, you destroyed one of my deals. Do you even know its worth? ONE MILLION DOLLARS!” Kaden shouted suddenly. His eyes were red and his teeth were gritting. In a second his face went back to its normal state. “So I decided to destroy you and Jayden and….,” he acted like he was trying to remember. “I’m sorry but who is the other one?” Kedan asked from Avelyn.
She glared at him. She perfectly knew that Kedan knew the name, but chose to tease her. “You know his name.”
Kedan gasped and placed his hand over his heart. “Oh my! You think I’m a liar! I would never lie to you! Umm…can you please tell me his name?” He blinked at her, imitating the people who try to act cute.
“It’s Nathan.”
“Aah! Now I remember!” Kedan clapped. “Yes, so I decided to destroy you and Nathan with Jayden. My plan got disrupted when Nathan found out about Keran,” then he muttered to himself, “I should have gotten Keran out when he warned me about him.”
He glanced at Avelyn. “Then you all caught him. Now that makes me wonder who caught him?”
“I think it hardly matters now,” Avelyn shrugged.
“Oh please, enlighten me.”
Avelyn took a moment to observe the bipolar creep in front of her. Now that she is his prisoner, what worse could happen? “It was me.” She smirked at him.
“Oh, it was you?! Didn’t think that you were capable of such a thing? Was it actually you?” He covered his mouth, acting surprised. Avelyn just decided to stay silent.
Kaden shrugged. “It doesn’t matter now. Well, I knew who you were by then, and didn’t have any problem with it. But after you attended Hayden’s party, you disappeared! IT WAS LIKE MAGIC!” He threw his hands in the air like doing a magic trick.
“I searched for you, sweetheart. It took me six years to find you even when I knew your real identity. Wow! How clever you are!” He patted Avelyn’s head.
“Hmm…,” he tilted his head and stared at her. “Now the story time is over, let’s start our game again, shall we?”
