“Jayden! Come in!” Avelyn invited Jayden in with a vibrant smile. “Took you long enough to come.” Nathan, who was on his phone on the couch, said as Jayden sat beside him. “You understand that I was in the middle of a meeting, right?”
Nathan shrugged, “who cares.”
“Now shut up you two. Come and help me in the kitchen.” Avelyn shouted as she walked to the kitchen.
“Can’t maids do it?” Nathan asked, not taking his eyes off the phone.
Avelyn looked at them from the kitchen, her hands on her hips. “Aren’t you coming?”
Nathan huffed. “Okay!” He threw the phone on the table and got up.
“Have fun!” Jayden laughed.
“If you want food, then come and help.”
“But I’m the guest!”
“The choice is yours.” Saying this, Nathan walked to where Avelyn was, as Jayden quickly got up to follow him. Afterall, one can hardly survive without food at a party right?
In the evening, Avelyn, Jayden and Nathan were sitting in front of the campfire they had prepared. Jayden stretched his arms, as he sat comfortably on his chair. “I’m sooo full!” He exclaimed, with a happy, very happy smile on his face. “Me too!” said Nathan, making a disgusted face at the half-eaten food he had piled on his plate, for the third time. He turned to Avelyn.
“You want some?”
“Your leftovers?”
Nathan shrugged. “I haven’t touched them.”
Avelyn took a sip from her glass. “You sure?”
Nathan nodded multiple times. “Feed me then!” She opened her mouth as he stuffed it with a piece of meat. “Not that much, i***t!” She yelled, trying hard to munch on the food.
“Nathan, you want some?” Jayden asked as he poured himself a glass of bourbon. “Thanks!”
….
Avelyn was now on the floor, her legs crossed under her. Nathan and Jayden were still remaining on their chairs. There were two bottles of alcohol – the empty one was toppled over on the grass, and the other one; half empty, was on Avelyn’s hand.
“Come on Nathan! One more glass!” Avelyn waved the bottle in front of Nathan’s face. “Nope! I’ve reached my limit,” Nathan leaned back on his chair. “Seems like you’ve passed yours.”
“Hig! Limit? What limit? Limits are to break!........No. I’m perrrfectly fine. Look at me! What a –hig- fine lady,” Her reply was contained with occasional hiccups. Nathan smirked. “Never seen a fine lady as you then.” “Yesh!” Jayden joined Nathan’s laugh.
Avelyn’s head snapped in Nathan’s direction. “What ’bout you?” She pointed her index finger at Jayden. “Douunt you need a shot?” She slurred.
“NOouu”
“Oh WHY?” Avelyn’s voice raised a note higher.
“COME ON! Imma pour you a glass. DON’T. YOU. RE- hig- fUSE!”
“I don’t want more!” Jayden stopped Avelyn from filling his glass. Avelyn pouted. “Why??” She whined. “I’m-” He was cut off by a gag.
“Ew Jayden!” Nathan got up screaming, as Jayden vomited on Nathan’s shoe.
“Hahahahaha!” Avelyn started laughing looking at the mess. “That’s what you both get for refusing me!” She threw her arms back, and laid down on the grass. Then rested her feet on the chairs in front of her- one on Jayden’s and the other on Nathan’s.
Nathan shook his leg violently. “You’re going to wash this!” He pointed accusingly at Jayden.
“Puff!” Jayden snorted. “You wish!” He then proceeded to fold his legs, and fit his entire body in the chair comfortably. He frowned when he found an extra leg. “What on earth! Avelyn! Get your dirty feet away frooom ME!” He pushed her leg by his hand, and turned sideways on the chair, leaning on the arm rest, and closed his eyes.
Nathan, who was cleaning his precious shoe with a tissue, saw Avelyn shifting her leg closer to the puddle of puke. “No. No. Don’t-” Aaand Avelyn put her foot on the puddle. “Put your foot on it” Nathan finished his sentence- too late I might say.
“Get up you two” He kicked Avelyn lightly. “Lem’me bee” Avelyn murmured, as she turned to her side. “Jayden! Get up!” Nathan ordered, to an already sleeping Jayden. He sighed as he realized that he was the one who was going to get the two inside. As tipsy as he was, we should give him credit for not losing his senses.
Nathan let out a groan as he threw Jayden on the sofa. He looked to his side, to see Avelyn, stirring in her sleep. Twenty minutes earlier, he had intended to bring the two maniacs to their bedrooms, but when he had taken Avelyn to the living room, and looked up at the staircase, the thought of carrying two heavy drunk idiots up there seemed way too hard for him. So he just resolved to settle them on the sofas in the living room. Five minutes later, he too was seen snoring loudly on the third sofa, joining the other two on their song.
………….
“Hello!.....Sir! The sound barely penetrated through the thick mist of sleep. Someone tapped on his shoulder. He pushed the hand away, annoyed. ‘Just let me sleep dude!’ He screamed in his mind. “Sir!...Sir, are you awake?” And again came the stupid tapping, on his arm, this time. He kicked in the air with his feet, hoping to hit the person, still closing his eyes. Nothing he had done seemed to be able to chase the person away, so he opened his eyes.
He stared at the smiling maid. “Good morning Sir! It’s better if you wash yourself up.” It took a whole minute for Jayden to register her words. He turned his head to the side, to see Avelyn and Nathan were sitting, still closing their eyes. He pointed at the two of them, and complained to the maid. “Why aren’t you waking them up?”
“I’ve already done that Sir. They are waiting for YOU to get up.”
Getting out of his drowsy state, he nodded and dismissed the maid. “I’m up!” He shouted and got up, only to get dizzy and sit back down. Avelyn opened her eyes lightly, and smiled sleepily. “Good morning!”
“Good morning to you too!” Jayden replied, returning the smile, but Nathan just groaned, too lazy to use his voice. “Let’s get freshened up.” Avelyn stood up and patted Nathan’s shoulder as she made her way to her room. “So that we can have some hangover soup for this headache.” She grabbed her hair as she climbed up the stairs.
Jayden too got up, to follow his friend, but stopped on his tracks seeing Nathan still half asleep, sitting on the sofa. “Come, let’s go” He pulled Nathan up by his arm, and dragged him up the stairs.
