Chapter 2It was after dark when I finally rolledinto the garage and the door slid shut behind me with a mechanicalhum. The shutters were open already. When I walked into the kitchen,Connor was busy cooking in his boxers and a t-shirt. He looked up at me and smiled. “You’relate,” he said. “Sorry. Phil had to run, and Ioffered to take his last class for the day.” Connor leaned toward me, spatula stillin his hand, so he could kiss me. I planted one on his lips andwalked through to the bedroom. “Did you have an okay day?” hecalled after me.
